GROWTH PERFORMANCE AND PLASMA ANTIOXIDANT CAPACITY OF BROILER CHICKENS FED Schilbe mystus (African Butter Catfish fishmeal) FORTIFIED WITH VITAMIN E

ABSTRACTS A six-week experimental study was conducted to estimate the growth performance and plasma antioxidant capacity of broiler chickens fed Schilbe mystus fishmeal fortified with or without vitamin E. The vitamin E was fortified at two levels of 400mg and 800mg per kilogram of Schilbe mystus for the experimental diets. One hundred and ninety five (195) day old chicks broiler of Marshal strain were used. These birds were randomly allotted to five dietary treatment o...

THE EFFECT OF ENZYME (YEMZIM) INCLUSION IN CASSAVA- BASED DIET ON PERFOMANCE AND EGG QUALITY CHARACTERISTICS IN LAYERS (2)

ABSTRACT A study was conducted to evaluate the effect of 20% inclusion replacement of maize with peeled cassava root meal and unpeeled cassava root meal with and without enzyme inclusion. A total of 90, 42 weeks old black Harco layers were divided into 6 groups with 3 replicate for each group. Each replicate had 5 birds. The 6 diets comprise of control, peeled cassava root meal and unpeeled cassava root meal, with and without enzyme. Each diet was offered ad libitum to the birds for a period...

Growth response and haematological indices of broiler chickens fed corn -soya based diets supplemented with or without protease enzyme.

This study was conducted to evaluate the growth response and haematological indices of broiler chickens fed corn-soya based diets supplemented with or without protease enzyme. Two hundred and forty (240) one-day old Arbo-acre broiler chickens were assigned to six dietary treatments. Each dietary group had 40 birds with 4 replicates of 10 birds each. Experimental diet were formulated such that Diet 1, 3, & 5 containing 100% Soybean meal (100%SBM), 50% Soybean meal and 50%Full fat soya(50:50:FF...

EFFECT OF WOOD ASH TREATMENT ON CHEMICAL COMPOSITION OF CASHEW NUT SHELL

ABSTRACT This study was conducted to investigate the effect of wood ash solution on chemical composition of cashew nut shell. Approximately 200g, 400g, and 600g of wood ash were weighed into separate plastic containers. 1 litre of the wood ash solution containing 200g, 400g, 600g and 0g of wood ash respectively was used to soak 200g of the milled cashew nut shell for 24 hrs to make four treatment, which was replicated thrice in a complete randomized design. Result showed that m...

The Effects of Partial Replacement of Maize with Ripe Plantain Peels Meal on the Performance of Broiler Chicken

This is a project work which dealt with replacement of a non conventional one to a conventional one. The title is " The effects of partial replacement of maize with ripe plantain peels meal on the performance of broiler chickens " . the result showed that there was no significant difference with birds fed 50%rppm and birds fed the control diet (100%maize) . This shows that maize can be partially replaced at 50% by ripe plantain peels meal on broilers diet.

EFFECTS OF DIFFERENT TYPES OF SPACING ON THE GROWTH AND YIELD OF CELOSIA ARGENTEA BY

Overview:This project work was carried out to determine the effect of different spacing on the growth and yield of celosia argentea. The parameters considered for the experiment include plant height, leaf length, numbers of leaves and population of perforated leaves per plant, taken at 3, 5 and 7 weeks after planting. It was observed that the beds treated with spacing of 30cm x 30cm performed better in terms of growth and yield rate, followed by the beds treated with spacing of 20cm x 20cm. I...
