REPORT ON STUDENT INDUSTRIAL WORK EXPERIENCE SCHEME (SIWES) TRAINING PROGRAMME

ABSTRACT The Student Industrial Working Scheme (SIWES) is a program that was designed by the Industrial Training Fund (ITF) with the aim of aiding young science and engineering university students to have an experience of working in industries and companies based on their fields of study in order to extend their learning outside the classrooms and lecture halls. This is a report which contains information about my SIWES experience. It contains details on the company I worked in which wa...

User programmable door lock

ABSTRACT This project report describes the design and construction of an electronic door lock which uses a microcontroller as the main control unit. The project’s objective was to interface this microcontroller with an LCD, keypad and a DC motor. However, programming the PIC chip to perform a task like identifying an authorised user is also among the objectives of this project. Codes were developed in assembly language, complied, debugged and downloaded to the PIC microcontroller. These cod...

Ultrasonic Object Detection

Ultrasonic Object Detection Project The main aim of this system is to detect object that will be ahead of ultrasonic transducer. This application is very useful in areas like monitoring and also very useful in wild life photography. There are two main parts of the ultrasonic detector. First one is emitter that produces a 40kHz sound wave. Second one is detector that helps to detect 40kHz sound wave.  This signal is then sent back to microcontroller. In this system the ultrasonic module is...

Micro Controller System for Multi Input Single Output (MISO) System

ABSTRACT This project  involves the development of a console that allows multiple inputs (3 inputs) and a single output to a screen through the use of software. The micro controller which serves as the ‘heart’ of the hardware was encoded using C programming language. These lines of code enable the micro controller to switch to the selected signal when the remote is pressed or one of the buttons is pushed.

Design and construction of an automatic changeover switch

This work is based on automatic changeover switch. If there is failure in main power supply it will automatically change to auxiliary power supply such as generator. This project is based on electromechanical changeover with the use of magnetic contractors, relay, and circuit breaker.

DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION OF A COMPUTER BASED CONTROL OF ELECTRICAL APPLIANCES

INTRODUCTION This project presents the design and construction of a computer based program used to control office appliance. It is based on a Graphic user interface (GUI) programming language (Visual Basic 6.0), Parallel Port Interactive Mode, Opto-Coupler Isolation of the computer from the appliance to prevent damage to the system should a fault develop in the appliance. The implementation was based on the interaction of the computer with electronic appliance via the 25 Pin Centronic...

MICROCONTROLLER BASED AUTOMATIC HAND DRYER SYSTEM

ABSTRACTThis system “MICROCONTROLLER BASED AUTOMATIC HAND DRYER SYSTEM” comprises of many modules which are: The Sensor/Input Unit, Microcontroller Unit and the Output Interface. The sensor detects when the hand approaches the nozzle. Once the approaching hand is detected, the hand dryer produces a very hot to dry the hand as well as displaying “busy” on the display unit of the design. Once the hand is removed, the hot air automatically stops and the display unit displays “idle”. ...

12 VOLTS AUTOMATIC BATTERY CHARGING SYSTEM

ABSTRACTThis design is aimed at providing a system that has the capability of recharging batteries after use. The design is to incorporate an auto charging cut off circuit that operates when the battery is fully charged to avoid damaging the device and also a low voltage circuit which prevents the system from damage should in case the battery voltage level drops to a particular preset value.  This design is used to charge batteries not exceeding 36volts and a lineup of batteries not exceedin...

AUTOMATIC RAIN SENSING WIPER SYSTEM

ABSTRACTThe world today is moving ahead at a very fast pace. Some of the very common examples of fast moving objects are aeroplanes, high speed cars and many more. In our everyday life we come across many fast moving vehicles and so it is very important to measure the speed of these vehicles. This is an era of automation where it is broadly defined as replacement of manual effort by mechanical power in all degrees of automation. The operation remains an essential part of the system although wi...

MICROCONTROLLER BASED DIGITAL CALENDAR

ABSTRACT Microcontroller has actually revolutionized the world economy as virtually every facet of life is benefiting in one way or the other on the great impact of Microcontroller  today.Meanwhile, the technology of Microcontroller has gone long way of which monitoring and interfacing of real world devices to Microcontroller systems can not be left out. There is the need for this because virtually every home now has a Microcontroller .This project covers the steps involved in the developme...

DIGITAL FREQUENCY COUNTER

Test and measuring instruments are an indispensable in any electronics research, development or design environment. Test and measuring instruments can be categorized as digital and analog. Analog systems change their signal output linearly with the input and can be represented on a scale by means of a pointer. In the other hand, digital instruments or circuits represent their output as two discrete levels (‘1’ or ‘0’) and could show their output in a digital display either num...

IMPROVING THE PERFORMANCE OF A. C. VOLTAGE STABILIZER USING PARALLEL CASCADED RELAYS.

ABSTRACT: This work entails design, construction, packaging and evaluation of a prototype  automatic a.c. voltage stabilizer using parallel cascaded relays. The unit was cascaded to provide more switching contacts on the auto-transformer. The overall system design is a compact assembly encased in a portable metal box with handle which can operate on 90v minimal input voltage. In this paper, a parallel cascaded relay  what is essential was implemented in the design of voltage stabi...

DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION OF AUTOMATIC POWER CHANEOVER SYSTEM

ABSTRACT Power interruption and failure does not promote development. Investors and private organization do not feel secure to establish a business in a country with constant or frequent power failure. Power interruption limits the development of industries, commerce, businesses and seriously effects the economic development of any nation. There are vital jobs or processes that cannot be interrupted due to their importance, for instance surgery operation in hospitals, transfer of money betwee...
