CELLULOSE COMPOSITE OF TREATMENT

Cellulose water treatment are naturally occurring with unique structural, mechanical and optical properties. While the paper and packaging, automotive, personal care, construction, and textiles industries have recognized cellulose water treatments’ potential, we suggest cellulose water treatments have great untapped potential in water treatment technologies. In this review, we gather evidence of cellulose water treatment s’ beneficial role in environmental remediation and membranes for wa...

COMPARATIVE STUDIES OF THE BIOSORPTION OF HEAVY METALS ( LEAD & ZINC) USING TEA LEAVES (CAMELIA SINENSIS) & TEA FIBRE AS ADSORBENT

Abstract: This research has helped us to ascend from the initial two exploratory studies to a more advanced  general conclusion and theory that tea leaves (Camellia sinensis) has a great potential for Pb(ii) and Zn  uptake, as such, a more suitable Low-cost adsorbent for the effective removal of Pb (II) and Zn from  industrial effluents waste water than tea fibre. This is coined from the results of the different biosorption  studies carried out as a function of contact time, initial metal...

Kinetic studies of the biosorption of lead and zinc using tea leaf

Abstract: In this research work, Low-cost adsorbent was prepared from Camellia sinensis, physicochemical characteristics and the effective removal of Lead and Zinc from an aqueous  phase were evaluated. The Camellia sinensis adsorbent precursor was characterized in terms  of adsorbent dose, initial concentration and contact time. Aqueous phase adsorption studies  were carried out under kinetic studies of pseudo first order, pseudo second order kinetics and  the residue concentration of Lea...

Computational studies of Sulphur trioxide and its protonated analogues

This article reports quantum chemical calculations on sulphur trioxide (SO3) and its protonated analogues  (HSO3 + and HOSO2 + ) by employing six different computational methods. This covers the simple Hatree  Fock (HF) method, coupled cluster method, the Gaussian-4 (G4) compound method amongst others with  two different basis sets (6-311++G** and cc-pVDZ). Optimized geometries, bond distance, rotational  spectroscopy, dipole moment, proton affinity, vibrational spectroscopy and vibration...

COMPARATIVE CHARACTERIZATION OF SOME PORTLAND CEMENTS SOLD IN SOKOTO CITY

ABSTRACT The aim of this research was to characterize some Portland cements (Bua, Dangote and Sokoto cement) sold in Sokoto city using standard methods; due to the persistent collapse of buildings. The results showed that Sokoto cement recorded the least CaO content (58.99%) while Dangote cement had the highest CaO content being 61.56%. All the samples have Al2O3, SiO2 and Fe2O3 contents within the acceptable limits with the exception of De with SiO2 content being below the required standard....

LIPIDS COMPOSITION IN THE EGG SHELL OF DOMESTIC FOWL

ABSTRACT Poultry eggs are eaten in most areas of the world with fewer social taboos associated with them than pigs and cattle. The most commonly used bird eggs are those from chicken. In Nigeria, the domestic foul dominates the poultry industry. Of the 120 million indigenous poultry population in Nigeria, the domestic fowl constitutes about 91 % of this. For this reason, the present work tried to evaluate the nutritional levels of the lipid composition of the free-range fertilized cooked chic...

SYNTHESIS AND CHARACTERIZATION OF PYRIDYL BASED SCHIFF

Metal complexes are scientifically known to be active and effective as antibacterial, antivirus and some antifungal etc. This project work is targeted at preparing complex from transition metals say; cobalt, cupper, zinc and nickel and organic ligands synthesised from pyridyl based schiff bases, one from 2-aminopyridine and benzaldehyde and second from 2-aminopyridine and 2,4-dihydroxylbenzaldehyde. The analysis and completion is based on thin-layer chromatography, column-chromatography and I...

ISOLATION AND CHARACTERIZATION OF LUPEOL FROM THE METHANOL LEAF EXTRACT OF TAPINANTHUS DODONEIFOLIUS GROWING ON VITEX DONIANA

Tapinanthus dodoneifolius belongs to the family Loranthaceae and is widely distributed in West Africa, Europe and Asia, commonly known as mistletoe. It exhibits a wide array of pharmacological activities including antimalarial,  anticonvulsant, anti- microbial, and is effective in the relief of menstrual and stomach pain. Lupeol, a pentacyclic triterpenoid was isolated for the first time from the methanol leaf extract of Tapinanthus dodoneifolius and characterized by spectral analysis. Th...

Adsorption efficiency of coconut husk for removal of Rhodamine-B dye from aqueous solution

ABSTRACT The efficiency of acid modified locust bean pod (ALBP) as low cost adsorbent to remove  Rhodamine-B (Rh-B) dye from aqueous solution was studied. The morphology, functional groups and  elemental analysis of the adsorbent were investigated by SEM, FTIR, pH (pzc), and Boehm titration analytical techniques. Operational parameters such as contact time, initial dye concentration and solution temperature  were investigated. The amount of Rh-B dye adsorbed was found to increase as these ...

Corrosion Inhibition of 5-Methyl-2H-imidazol-4-carboxaldehyde and 1H-Indole-3-carboxyaldehyde on Mild Steel in 1.0 M HCl: Gravimetric Method and DFT Study

Abstract Weight loss and Density Functional Theory (DFT) methods were used to study the corrosion inhibition of 5-methyl-2H-imidazol-4-carboxaldehyde and 1H-Indole-3-carboxaldehyde on mild steel in acid medium. The values of thermodynamic parameters such as free energy of adsorption (ΔGºads), adsorption equilibrium constant (Kads), adsorption entropy (ΔSºads), adsorption enthalpy (ΔHºads) and activation energy (Ea) were calculated and discussed. The adsorption process on mild steel surf...
