INCIDENCE OF HAEMOGLOBINOPATHIES IN EHIME-MBANO LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA OF IMO STATE, NIGERIA.

ABSTRACT. A study of haemoglobinopathies in Ehime-Mbano Local Government Area of Imo State was carried out with mostly students of secondary schools in the area who are true representatives of the population. The result showed that 20% of the people randomly sampled are carriers of the sickle trait (HbAS) while the remaining 80% have genotype of HbAA.
