An Investigation On The Effects Of Corporal Punishments On Academic Performances Of Pupils From Sampled Primary Schools In Dokolo Town Council, Dokolo District

This study was carried out to find the effects of corporal punishments on children's performances in academics in sampled primary schools in Dokolo Town Council, Dokolo District. The study used stratified and purposive sampling to select respondents which involved head teachers, teachers, pupils, parents and vice-chairpersons Local Council one (LC I). The questionnaires and interview guides were used to get information from the respondents. The results revealed that the effects of corporal punishments on pupils performances include; school dropout, absenteeism, low self esteem, frustration, expensive to treat the injured child, loss of life anger, violence, hatred and spoils school image. It was recommended that all parents, teachers and ,stake holders should come in to support education of their children through having positive discipline and use of nonviolent ways of handling children among others.
