ABSTRACT
The recent torrent of migrations of Nigerians to other parts of the world such as Europe, Asia among others is alarming. Recently, several migrants and those who have close insight into migrant experiences have been writing of migrants lives in diverse forms of literature. These writings have provided insight into Nigerian migration issues - racial discrimination, hair politics et al. The paper uses postcolonial theory in studying conceptual cum thematic concerns of Chimamanda Adichies Americanah in order to understand issues surrounding migrant life both abroad and at home in Nigeria. The paper reveals the experiences the migrants go through, bring them to a point of recognition of the harsh realities of life in foreign countries. These conditions force them to become nostalgic of home, resilient in their attitude to life, and sometimes to decide on returning home. The paper concludes that there should be a conscious re-orientation of the populace by individuals, corporate organizations and agencies on the diasporic challenges and as well do more to improve the social condition which in effect would stem the high tide of migration out of the country.
