ABSTRACT

The researcher wanted to expound and add more knowledge to the causes of child sexual abuse. The researcher’s scope of study was at Mathira Division Nyeri District Central province in Kenya. The main objectives of this research were as follows;

o To asses, the role the authorities are playing in the fight against childhood sexual abuse.

• To establish if drug abuse influences child sexual abuse.

To investigate whether the economic status instigates the child sexual abuse.

• To find out if single~ parenting leads to child sexual abuse.

• To identify the causes of child sexual abuse and their possible solutions to avert the challenge

The research was conducted using the sampling technique were a small population was chosen and interviewed which later represented the whole of Mathira District. The population of the study mainly consisted of local administrators, parents and children. During the research work the researcher used questionnaires interview and documentaries for data collection. The findings by the researcher showed that males were more willing to contribute their views upon the issue of child sexual abuse compared to female respondents On the other hand the government was not exercising proper roles in order to curb the high rate of child sexual abuse in the society and the measures were to a high degree tin effective.

While concluding her research the researcher recommended: That the government should make sure that it focuses the sensitization of youths and other people in the societies on the effects of drug abuse and its contribution to sexual abuse. Further more the

government and the entire society should come up with other tighter measures to coup with sexual abuser. This is because the research conducted shows that the government is doing less to curb this disaster
