ABSTRACT
The study on effectiveness of motivation on quality service delivery among health workers was undertaken in Makete District Hospital (MDH). According to URT, (2017), Tanzania has reasonable number of staff who are motivated, trained and developed on the competencies or skills that they lack so that they perform better. However, the quality of health service delivery is still poor. Despite this fact, it is not established yet as to why some officials continue to offer services of low quality. Specific objectives of the study were (i) to find out motivation practices to the health workers at MDH, (ii) to determine the level of quality health service delivery of Makete District Hospital, (iii) to examine health worker’s attitudes towards the level of quality of health service delivery at Makete District Hospital, and (iv) to analyze the challenges facing motivation among health workers in MDH. In the study, the investigator used case study research design because it is used for small sample. It is also allowed to use both quantitative and qualitative research. Primary and secondary data together were used to acquire information from employee’s practices on motivation and quality health service delivery. A sum of 98 respondents were included in the study whereby 78 were given questionnaires, 20 key informants were interviewed; 15 patients and 5 for the management. The prepared questionnaire and interview guide for the study enabled to acquire applicable information about the study. Data were analyzed using Statistical package used in research for Social Sciences IBM version 23.0. The result showed that, there is moderate quality of service delivery where workers were moderately satisfied with the quality of service delivery at MDH since motivation does not contribute much to health quality service delivery.
