Electronic Data Collection System For Departments Case Study Kampala International University

The process through which data is collected from the Examination department to any department under the heads of department is done manually and is the current system which is in use. The examination department works jointly with the databank where it gives a hand in handling cases of retrieved results. The data in the databank involves information like students registration records and results records which are retrieved from the examination store. Students’ results are collected manually on scripts or by forms and transferred to the respective departments. The manual way of collecting data is time consuming, labor intensive and some times results are misplaced and loss of results since there are many students catered for. This project was carried out with the aim of developing a system that would address the above problems. The Electronic data collection system that was developed to effectively and efficiently modernize data collection techniques. The method used for collecting data for the development of the system included interviews, qualitative and quantitative approaches. Data analysis was carried out to determine functional and non functional requirements of the system.
