ABSTRACT This study seeks to understand affordances and constraints of seaport smart service systems in a developing country context. Smart service systems refer to configurations of smart technologies, people and processes to co-create value for stakeholders. Examples of smart service systems discussed in information systems literature are smart homes, smart cities, smart health, and smart energy. While traditional service systems relied on people and physical processes, smart service system...
ABSTRACT The purpose of this research is to examine the influence of performance expectancy, effort expectancy, social influence, facilitating conditions, hedonic motivation and price value on consumers’ behavioural intention to adopt mobile money in Ghana. Studies on mobile money in developing countries have so far focused more on issues relating to adoption, use, deployment and diffusion. The most dominant among these areas is studies on adoption. However, there still remain salient facto...
ABSTRACT The study assesses the level of cabotage administration in relation to cabotage operation in Nigeria since its inception. To properly evaluate the cabotage operation in Nigeria, it is important to state the four cardinal reasons federal government introduced cabotage administration. The four cardinal points are: cabotage vessels must be wholly owned by Nigerians, cabotage vessels must be manned by Nigerians, cabotage vessel must be registered in Nigeria and cabotage vessels must...
ABSTRACT This study is designed to evaluate quality management in mechanical construction projects in the oil and gas industry. This evaluation was done by assessing quality assurance, quality control and planning. Three hypotheses were postulated to answer research questions. The study adopted an audit method as an appraisal strategy. To this end, an audit checklist was designed using the Iso 9001 and the companies‘ specifications as audit criteria. An extensive literature review was...

ABSTRACT The possible roles of temperature and nutrientson Primary productivity of the Middle Reaches of Otamiri River in the Federal University of Technology, Owerri, Nigeria was investigated between October and November, 2016. Ten sampling points (OTP1 – OTP10) sited about 50m apart were studied. The light and dark bottle technique was used for the estimation of primary productivity and in situ measurements was made for water temperature. Other parameters were determined using stand...
ABSTRACT This study sought to optimize the cost of distribution system of consumer goods in Nigeria with special interest in Seven-Up Bottling Company PLC, Aba Abia State products from their five (5) depots to sixteen (16) wholesale dealers. Sources of distribution were identified as the depots, while destinations or markets were identified as wholesale dealers with a view to determining the shortest route that minimized the cost of transportation from the depots to the wholesale dealers. Th...
ABSTRACT The inhibiting effect of aqueous extracts of MucunaPruriends (MP) on mild steel corrosion in 1 M HCl and 0.5 M H2SO4solution was investigated using weight loss and electrochemical techniques. The results revealed that MP inhibited the corrosion reaction. Polarization data reveal that the extract functioned as a mixed-type inhibitor. Inhibition efficiencies of the inhibitor increased with concentration of the extract but decreased gradually with an increase in the period of immersion....
ABSTRACT The study carried out the econometric analysis of the effect of oil theft on tanker shipping in Nigeria. The specific objectives of this study were to examine the relationship between crude oil export trade, refined petroleum import trade and maritime GDP in Nigeria. To achieve these objectives, secondary data were sourced from CBN statistical bulletin, National bureau for statistics (NBS) and Nigerian National Petroleum cooperation (NNPC) .The data collected was subjected to economet...
ABSTRACT This study analysed the rate of coastal erosion and accretion along the Niger Delta coastline. The study compared Morphological changes along Ogulagha (Delta State), Twon-Brass (Bayelsa State) And Bonny Island (River State) coastlines over a period of 30 years (1986-2000-2016). Geospatial techniques were used to carry out the assessment. Satellite image of landsat 5 Thematic Mapper (TM) of December 1986, landsat 7 and 8, Enhance Thematic Mapper (ETM+) of December 2000 and 2016 of pat...
ABSTRACT Gas flaring is the burning of natural gas and other petroleum hydrocarbons in flare stacks by upstream oil companies in oil fields during operation. A procedure for analysing the economic and environmental impact of gas flaring is presented. The main objective of the study is to provide the data required for the complete analysis and evaluation of the various observed and noted environmental effects of gas flaring in Niger Delta. Several visitations to the neighbouring communities ad...
ABSTRACT This research investigated the suitability of Mimosa pudica leaf (MPL) and Mimosa pudica stem (MPS) extracts as an inexpensive and nontoxic corrosion inhibitor for mild steel in acidic environment. The experiments carried out to investigate the corrosion inhibition of mild steel in 1.0 M HCl and 0.5 M H2SO4 by Mimosa pudica leaf and stem extract were weight loss and potentiodynamic polarization methods to determine the extract adsorption potential, kind of protection and its corrosio...
ABSTRACT Most often than not, project costs as estimated cannot realistically execute and deliver the project – an estimating inaccuracy called cost underestimation. Since cost estimates are the basis for decision making regarding project selection, underestimation lead to selection of project with significant cost risks. Researchers have so far failed to agree on the main cause of cost underestimation, therefore this research study is carried out to examine the problem of cost underestimat...
ABSTRACT The rate of maternal mortality in the recent time is so alarming due to weak health systems, poor doctor-patient relationship, and non-existence of e-health management system to efficiently maintain, handle the patient’s record and schedule appointments for pregnant women from the first to last trimester which will reduce unnecessary waiting line that causes stress to both the patient and doctors. This study aims at facilitating the maternal care delivery at Federal Medical Center,...
ABSTRACT Quality study of Otamiri River water around the vicinity of Umukoto Nekede Owerri where sand mining is carried out is discussed. The effects of these activities are explained by analyzing the positive and negative implications on the environment within the area. The socioeconomic ecology, vegetation, environmental hazards and physicochemical parameters of the water were examined by the method of laboratory sampling dredging technology, hydraulic procedures. The Numerical Quantitativ...
