Magnetic Resonance Imaging Finding in Common Knee Joint Diseases

Abstract

The study was a retrospective study of MRI finding in common knee joint

diseases , this study was conducted in Khartoum state of Sudan in Dar

Eleilaj hospital and Antalia medical diagnostic Center from September 2016

to January 2017, and the problem of the study was increasing in patients

suffering from knee joint pain ,the study was aimed to find out the most

common disease in knee joint ,demonstrate the diagnostic value of MRI in

diagnosing presence and absence of this disease and identify whether MRI

can lead to accurate diagnoses of Knee joint disease, the data was collected

from 100 patients and this data was classified and analyzed using SPSS, and

found that meniscus tear is the most common knee joint disease with a

prevalence of 29% (18% for medial meniscus tear and 11% for lateral

meniscus tear ) and 21% for cruciate ligaments tear and 14% for

osteoarthritic changes and also found that males (58) were more affected

than females(42), and the age group of (36-50) were more exposed to knee

joint disease ,finally the study recommended that further studies should be done by larger sample size .
