INTRODUCTION

1.0 Introduction

The eye is an organ of sight; it is a cystic structure which keeps it distended by the pressure inside it. Although generally referred to as the globe.

The eyeball is not a spare but consist of two modified spare fused together. The cornea is a part of the anterior smaller portion with a radius of 7.8mm while the sclera is the pat that is the posterior larger spare with radius of about 12mm.

The eye is a special organ of sight which comprises the eyeball, optic nerve and visual centre in the brain. The above three structures are referred to as the essential visual apparatus because each is important in the process of seeing, the eyeball gathers visual image of object converted them into nerve impulses to the brain for interpretation.

In addition the eye has ocular accessory structure that assist in the promotion and function of the eye. This include the eyebrow, eyelashes, conjunctiva, extra ocular muscles, lacrimal apparatus and bony orbit (A.K Khurana, 2012).
