This paper describes Motivation: Cognitive and behavioral theories and techniques, it analyzed the three theories underlying the cognitive and behavioral theories and techniques, it examined the expectancy theory, assumptions underlying expectancy theory, the explanation, the applicability of the expectancy theory. It also examined the equity theory of motivation, gave an explanation of the equity theory, application of equity theory in an educational organization. It also examined the goal setting theory, gave an explanation of the goal setting theory, explanation of the goal setting theory principles, application of the goal-setting theory in an organization i.e educational institution, challenges of the goal setting theory, solutions, and lastly behavior modification, explanation of behavior modification, application ofbehavior modification, challenges of behavior modification, solution to the challenges of behaviour modification and and concluded with the following statement; If an employee was unable to meet the goal by the set timeframe, discuss any modifications that need to be made and provide constructive feedback as to how the employee can improve.
