TEACHING AND LEARNING OF THE THEME OF CORRUPTION IN CHINUA ACHEBE'S "A MAN OF THE PEOPLE" IN SECONDARY SCHOOL IN ANAMBRA EAST L.G.A OF ANAMBRA STATE

Abstract

The study dealt with the teaching and learning of the theme of corruption in Achebe’s A Man of the People in secondary schools in Anambra East L.G.A. of Anambra State. Four research questions guided the study. The literature review was done in four sub-headings: Conceptual framework; theoretical framework; review of empirical studies and summary of literature review.  The study adopted a survey research design.  The population of the study was all tertiary institutions in Anambra State. The sample of 110 hundred students was selected from two tertiary institutions in Anambra State.  The instrument for data collection was a well structured questionnaire.  Mean was used for the analysis of the data. It was also discovered by the study that The Achebe’s works are taught at secondary school level in Anambra East Local Government Area; among others. The educational implications, recommendations, and suggestions for further studies were equally clearly highlighted.
