ABSTRACT

This research was designed to identify the effects of integration of business

studies on the teaching methodology of secondary school teachers in Nairobi

South district, Kenya. It focused on the effect of merging related subjects

into one subject and how this can influence the teaching methods of

teachers

Effects of these changes on the teaching methodology were examined. A

descriptive research design was used in this study. Fifty Business studies

teachers were involved as respondents. The teachers were selected from

twenty-five secondary school in Nairobi South district. A questionnaire was

the research instrument used in this study. The study confirmed several

consequences of integration of business studies on the teaching

methodology.

The study recommended in-service training to assist the teachers move in line with the curriculum changes. Sufficient time for training is required to avoid covering an excessive amount of work during too short a time.

Teachers should not be encouraged to be resilient whenever they encounter challenging effects of changes in the curriculum. The ministry of Education should put a lot of effort in supporting and guiding the teachers to become a force for the change of the curriculum
