THE EFFECTS OF TRAINING ON EMPLOYEE`S PERFORMANCE IN ETHIO TELECOM: “THE CASE OF EASTERN REGION

Abstract:

The objective of the study is to examine “The Effects of Training on Employee`s Performance in Ethio Telecom: “The Case of Eastern Region”. The methodology that was used for the study was descriptive and inferential statistic such as regression and correlation to see the effect of independent variables on dependent variable; for this binary Logistic regression model was used to indicate the training practice and employees’ job performance. Primary data was collected from a sample of 110 (One hundred ten) respondents by using convenience sampling method. The sampling technics in this study were one of purposive sampling method. What makes sampling method convenience using Yamane sampling technique formula where applied. Due to this the sampling technique level of confidence is 0.95% or 0.05% margin error. Questionnaire and interview was used in the collection of data for analysis. It was also found that training in Ethio Telecom of East region was properly addressed as a key tool on improving employees’ job performance. Based on the study result job knowledge, training effect, job enhancement, and motivation have significant relationship with employee’s job performance. The major challenges of training in Ethio telecom could be inadequate time and resource, financials problem, inadequate planning, lack of coordination and inability to transfer learning from training to workplace. And also there is a challenge to get well organized documents related to the training given. The study recommended that in order for Ethio Telecom to be successful as the leading Telecom Company in Ethiopia, managements must empower all departments to engage in the training of employees to improve the potential and strengthen employees’ job Performance. And other researcher interested can conduct the study through document analysis and interview with HRM manager and regional managers, should make a pre training assessment and post training assessment and evaluation.
