PREFACE
Nigeria represents multi-ethnic state where ethnocentric values are used by elite to display ethnic group pride, and to also indulge in the glorification of their own culture to the scorn of others’ way of life. This character exacerbates ethnic sentiments and fuel mutual distrust, suspicion, hatred, strife and rancor among ethnic nationalities. These sentiments underpin issues associated with citizenship question motivated by “struggles over values, claims to status, power and scarce resources around the world”.
The work is subdivided into Five Chapters, chapter one Deals with introduction and explanation of the meaning of ethnicity, chapter two deals with the concepts of ethnic group and ethnicity in Nigeria, chapter three deals with the impact of ethnicity to nation development; positive impact of ethnicity in Nigeria development, negative impact of ethnicity in Nigeria development, chapter four deals with the ways of promoting inter- ethnic peace in Nigeria while chapter five gives the conclusion and references
