ABSTRACT This study looked at the role of Sudanese Women in politics and its impact on the local women. The purpose of the study was to critically assess the role of Southern Sudanese women and how their roles have impacted on the local women. The objective of the stt1dy included; To investigate the role South Sudanese women play in the countly' s political arena and how this affects the ordinary in the country. To find out the power percentage or, allocation between men and women in the count1y in relation to the CPA terms and the constitution of the Republic of South Sudan. To examine the level of cooperation between the South Sudanese women. That is, between the women leaders and the local women in the country in fostering a collective voice. To find out the level of partnership between the local women and the other women outside the countly (in the world I other countries) in promoting feminine voices within and without. This research report was diagonally conducted cutting across all sexes, the researcher used 50 respondents who were selected using simple random sampling and purposive sampling respectively, the research instmments were Questiom1aire and Interview distributed to various respondents of this stt1dy. Both primary and secondary sources enriched this study. Data analysis was done both qualitatively and quantitatively To sum up all, the researcher found out that, most of the respondents were mainly women can·ying 60% and the males carrying 40% of which they were civil servants in the government and had attain ordinary level education mostly with certificates. Respondents gave different views of the definition of politics but the most profound included: Administrative control of the country, Way of handling people in a country, Leadership of the countly, A1t of governing a country. It was also found out that most of the public servants were new not more than 5 years. The role of women is very important however, much is still lacking on the side of the government to ensure that all women are able to participate. In addition the women positions are still ve1y few which lowers their participation in countly activities, added on challenges like rigid customs and cultures, Political instability, illiteracy, pove1ty tribalism and Husbands who became a problem to their wives. Where women leaders have tried to supp01t local colleagues, you find that the challenges are many thus affecting their performance. The challenges range from rigid traditions, poor men attitude, pove1ty, illiteracy, ignorance of own rights and lack of examples to emulate. The researcher recommended that raining programs should be initiated that target pastoralist women, either by providing sh01t courses during the months when the pastoralist communities are settled close to the villages or by employing mobile training units such that no tribe or group of people is left out during this period of revolution. In the conclusion the researcher suggested that that women are vital in development of a country, especially through politics and their involvement really affects the fellow local women in all aspects of life be it social, economic and political spheres'
