This paper centres on the Mauritian Creole, the national language of Mauritius, an island in Africa. Dev Virahsawmy, a Mauritian writer has written several literary works using the Mauritian Creole, and he has adapted some of Shakespeare's works using this language. An examination of his use of the Creole will be viewed in this essay.
