ABSTRACT The purpose of this dissertation is to bring to light some of the challenges faced in West Africa due to poor management of the transport sector. This translation would help authorities of Anglophone West African countries to gather some clues that would help improve the transport sector of their economies. The dissertation was done by translating from French into English, a thesis titled “ELABORATION D'UN PANEL DE LIGNES DU RESEAU DE LA SOTRA” (DEVELOPMENT OF SOTRA’S NETWORK OF TRANSPORT LINES) written by KOUADIO Kouakou Noguѐ s. The translation was done using dictionaries, finding information on the internet and from libraries as well as consulting some authorities in the transport sector. Using some theories of translation, an analysis of the translation project was then done to unravel and discuss some linguistic and extra-linguistic problems encountered while translating and how these problems were solved and most importantly to discuss how we went about the translation exercise.
