ABSTRACT
Sesamun indicum is used for both domestic and commercial purpose in Northern Nigeria, this research is aimed at assessing some micronutrients in sesamum indicum seed in Nguru town, using atomic absorption spectroscopy, spectrophotometric and flame photometric techniques in order to determine the elemental concentrations of some elements in sesame seeds collected from Nguru town, Nguru local government of Yobe state, Nigeria. The results showed the presence of sodium (Na), potassium (K), phosphorus (P), manganese (Mn), magnesium (Mg) and calcium (Ca) at 792.70 775.70, 97.90, 75.30, 68.70 and 854.30 mk/Kg concentration which is equivalent to 29.75, 29.11, 3.67, 2.83, 2.58 and 32.06 %. The presence of these constituents may be behind the medicinal value of Sesamum indicum in phytomedicine.
