2009 to August 9, 2009. The purpose of the study was to identify factors determining teenage

pregnancy amongst teenage school going girls in Homa Bay Municipal Town. The target

population was adolescence mother;:; aged between nine years and nineteen years.The sample size

was 66 respondents. Semi· structured questionnaires were used to collect information from the

sample population. Data was analyzed quantitatively using calculators and presented in graphs,

charts and tables. From the findings, it w,:s noted that most teenagers ( 46 or70 %) did not have

information on the dangers of early pregnancy, majority of them (55% or 33) got information on

Consequently, it was concluded that ignorar;,~e and failure to use contraceptives are the cause of

increrised rate of teenage pregnancy in Homa Bay.
