Determinants of Performance Among Females Students in Co-Educational Secondary Schools in Emuhaya Division, Western Kenya

ABSTRACT This study investigated distribution profile of the respondents as to K~C.S. E results of students and experience of teachers. It established the indicators of academic outcomes. Both qualitative and quantitative methods drawn from social sciences were used. It was conducted through cross sectional survey design. Data was collected using questionnaires, interviews and observation. The study employed descriptive statistical tools to analyze quantitative data. Frequency, tables and percentages were used. The study established that school inputs, parental socio economic background and physical structures influenced students’ academic outcomes. Teacher’s proxies and resources allocation had significant relationship to performance. The study recommended that the government had to provide enough funds to schools for the purchase of resource materials and development of physical facilities.
