Focuses on the maximum volume of waste generated in a particular month in a particular area and uses a heuristic model for it's analysis.
Research Problem
A proper, efficient, reliable and hygienic waste handling and disposal technique tells more of our maintenance culture but the capacity and ability to efficiently manage the waste becomes inadequate. The need for this study a rose because effective waste management is a tool for sustainable development. This can be achieved by adopting the appropriate waste handling technique and strategy for an efficient and environmental friendly waste disposal.
Aim and Objectives of the Study
An integrated waste rearranged system of plan must place an emphasis not only on which specific waste management option are to be chosen, but on the scheduling of these location of facilities and equipment (tippers, pail loader and bulldozer).A more flexible choice and scheduling programme for waste management options which must be, also to adapt to changing conditions need to be considered in the plan. The basic aim here is to allow decision makers to be able to determine the optimal times to implement and discontinue or close the waste management programme and facilities. Throughout the planning period, this should include a deterministic schedule plan of when and what recycling programme to implement and the landfill is to be opened or gully to be filled in a given planning period.
This is achieved by integrating a cost minimization, example minimizing the cost of equipment maintenance (bulldozers, pay loaders and tippers).This study seeks to achieve the following objectives;
i. To identify the challenges encountered in waste management.
ii. To identify the methods for storage of solid wastes in Anambra State.
iii. To assess the methods used in solving solid waste handling problems.
iv. To determine an effective waste management strategy.
Scope of Work
The scope of work entails the analysis of waste management with emphasis on how solid wastes can be properly handled and disposed and suggestion of possible methods for carrying out this objective.
Limitation of the Study
It is limited to solid waste generated from the IFITE-AWKA zone and the design of the optimal waste management system for the month. Also, it does not place emphasis on the design of the process plant.
Significance of the Study
The significance of the work is that ,The waste management model may be used to help understand the complexity of the system as well as assessing the long term role and impact of the new option.
