Abstract
Fire safety is an important consideration in many structures and spaces because of the danger and damage that it may pose. Given so, a fire risk assessment is not often conducted on construction sites or while the building is under construction. They only assess this after the construction or before they provide an occupancy permit. Thus, this study assessed the level of fire risk of construction sites in Nueva Ecija. The study included 61 respondents all over the province. The study determined the profile of the contractor, the description of the building under construction, their fire risk, and if there’s a significant different between the profile of the contractor and the description of the building to the level of fire risk.
The study used the quantitative method of research and descriptive correlational design of study. The researchers obtained data using Google Forms, an online survey application. The study concluded that the level of fire risk of in the province is low and contractors especially focus on the behavior of on-site staff. There is also no significant difference between the profile of the contractor and the description of the building to the fire risk of the construction site or the building under construction. The study recommends that there should be a fire risk assessment of construction sites and not only constructed buildings which may be under the authority of the Local Government Units’ City/Municipal Engineer’s Office as criteria in providing building permits.
