The study area Kafin Maiyaki and its environs is a segment of sheet 103 Federal Survey Topographical Sheet 103 Ikara NW. The area is underlain by migmatite-gneiss and medium to coarse grain gneiss and has been intruded by a series of Pan African Granitoids. Geological structures observed in the area were faults, joints and veins trending mostly in the NW-SE and NE-SW indicating the effect of Pan African Orogeny. No evidence of economic mineralization has been observed but from the petrographic studies, it is obvious that crystallization, replacement and alteration of some essential minerals are evidences of deformational processes dated back to the Precambrian to Lower Palaeozoic times.
