IMPACT OF MANPOWER TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT ON ORGANIZATIONAL GROWTH

Abstract

This research work focused on the impact of manpower training and development on organizational growth. Poor performance of workers, High labour turnover and decline in customer patronage were the major problems that inspired this research work.  The objectives of the study were to investigate the impact of manpower training and development on the performance of staff and to ascertain how manpower training and development affect labour turnover. Descriptive research design was used and data were collected through primary and secondary sources. Questionnaire was the major primary source of data collection with a four point Likert scale. The data gathered were presented in tables and simple percentages were used to analyses the data. Karl Pearson Product Moment Correlation statistical tool was used to analyses the relationship between the variables under study and t-statistic test was used to test the hy6pothesis formulated at 0.05 level of significance. The population of the study was 80 staff fr4om Fidelity6 Bank Plc, Aba branch and the sample size of 67 was arrived at with the help of Yaro Yameni formula. Simple random sampling technique was adopted in selecting the sample out of the total population. Results of the study showed that manpower training and development has a strong positive relationship on both workers performance and customer patronage. Also, it was discovered that manpower training and development, have a significant effect on labour turnover. Based on these findings, the researcher recommended that the management of Fidelity Bank should carry out regular assessment of employee’s skills, competences and attitudes to determine appropriate training need and that they should also support the training of lower level of employees. Also, a reasonable amount should be voted to manpower training and development in the organization.
