Production Optimization Techniques and Integrated Production Modelling (IPM) Suit Prosper as an Optimization Tool: A Case Study of Unity Oil Field, Block 2A, South Sudan

ABSTRACT

Production optimization techniques are essential tool in the oil and gas industries to ensure wells and facilities are operate at maximum efficiency, that maximizing the hydrocarbon recovery and minimizing operational cost (Mir, A.(2008). This project/dissertation focuses on evaluating well performance through comprehensive analysis method, that include calculation of productivity index (PI or J) via computer-based well simulation models utilizing IPM suit prosper software (Memon, S. & Zameer, A.(2012)., as tool to analysis a well performance assessment through IPR and OPR curve, Nodal analysis, Productivity index and Level of Skin effect.

The primary challenge address in this project is low performance of well (X and Y) in Unity oil field in South Sudan, cause by formation damage around the wellbore. The analysis reveal that well X exhibit a positive skin effect (+1.34) and formation productivity index of (1.69 STB/Day) with an Absolute open flow (AOF) of 6474.5 STB/Day indicating formation damage.

Conversely Well Y demonstrate a negative skin effect (-2.83) a formation productivity index of 38.30 STB/Day and an AOF of 19201.1 STB/Day, reflecting less severs impairment. The overarching goal of this project is to optimize production from these wells in unity oil field South Sudan, thereby improving overall field performance through targeted well Stimulation Strategies.

This present a comprehensive analysis of optimizing oil and gas production rate in the unity oil field, focusing on Block 2A and 4A in South Sudan. This employing advance reservoir modelling, production data analysis, and well stimulation techniques, the research aim to enhance hydrocarbon recovery while maintaining operational efficiency. The techniques such as reservoir characterization, enhance oil recovery (EOR) methods, and well stimulation strategies e.g hydraulic fracturing, and matrix Acidizing are evaluate for their effectiveness in increasing well productivity. The case study underscore the importance of integrate reservoir management and real-time monitoring to inform decision-making. Therefore based on the result that demonstrate significant potential for production enhancement through tailor stimulation approaches and optimized production strategies, contributing a valuable insight for field development and sustainable resource management in the unity oil field.

VI

The unity oil field, located in South Sudan Block 2A and 4A that has a significant hydrocarbon asset contributing to the country oil production. Effective management and optimization of such field require advance data analysis and modelling tool, and due to present of integrated production model (IPM) suit prosper that offer a comprehensive approach to a simulate analyze and optimize oil field performance by integrating reservoir, well and surface facilities.
