ABSTRACT

The purpose of the study was to examine the perception of educational administrators on information and communication technology (ict) for quality management of secondary schools in Eti-Osa Local Government Area of Lagos state. The study employed the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) in an educatio3nal setting to determine the perception of educational administrators to the use of information and communication technology (ICT) for the quality management of secondary schools in Eti-Osa local government area of Lagos state. To achieve the desired objectives of this study, three (3) research questions were raised and research hypotheses were formulated which guided the conduct of the study. Random sampling technique was used to select the respondents. Research questionnaire and personal interviews where necessary were used to gather the information needed for the study. The findings were later analyzed using the inferential statistics tools such as simple percentages, pie chart and F-test. Two samples for variance were also employed. It was found out that educational administrators agreed to the fact that information and communication technology is indeed very useful in the quality management of secondary schools. Analysis also showed that even though the government has provided a National Policy on information (IT), the government has done very little in terms of training of educational administrators and also, on the implementation of information and communication technology policies in secondary schools to the latter and as such, these in turn affected the perception of educational administrators in the quality management of secondary schools in Eti-Osa local government area. On the bases of this report, it was recommended that educational administrators should undergo trainings on information and communication technology via in-service trainings or incorporate information and communication technology in sandwich programmes in all universities and colleges of education. Government should organize seminars and symposiums from time to time in order to update educational administrators on the latest Microsoft packages / versions to enable them render quality service in the secondary schools especially in the day to day administrative functions. Finally, wider researches are suggested for further research.
