Pricing And Business Performance Of Financial Institutions. A Case Study Of Global Trust Bank (U) Limited Mbarara Western Uganda

ABSTRACT

The purpose of the study was to examine the relationship between pricing and Business

performance of financial institutions a case study of Global Trust Bank (U) Ltd western

Uganda in the branches of Mbarara and Karnwenge Districts. The study was guided by three

objectives namely, determine; level of pricing, level of business performance of Global Trust

bank limited and determining whether there was a significant relationship between pricing

and business performance of Global Trust bank limited in the branches of Mbarara and

Karnwenge Districts in western Uganda. The study comprised of a population of 120

respondents, and a descriptive research design was used to collect data from 92 respondents

using self-administered questionnaires as the main data collection instrument. The level of

pricing was generally high, and the level of business performance of Global Trust bank

limited in the branches of Mbarara and Karnwenge Districts in western Uganda was also

generally high and the two variables are positive and significantly correlated, this means

rejecting the null hypothesis that there was significant relationship between pricing and

business performance of Global Trust bank limited in the branches of Mbarara and

Kamwenge Districts in western Uganda. Arising from the findings, appropriate

recommendations and areas of further research were made. Recommendations based on

findings were that; Global trust bank should always price its products and services using

multiple numbers (multidimensional pricing), should continue with the policies of not

imposing monthly charges on savings account holders and if possible, extend the policy to

other account holders like current accounts and should also remove the policy of initial

opening price of ugs.shs l 0,000 and instead make account opening free without any initial

payment as other banks like Barclays bank, equity bank to mention but a few are doing so as to remain in the business.
