This paper examines issues and challenges related to raising the literacy level of nomadic in Nigeria. The paper highlights the functionality of nomadic education in Nigeria with reference to enrolment rate, availability of instructional materials, teacher retention in nomadic schools as well as the role of National Commission on Nomadic Education (NCNE) in ensuring the implementation of nomadic education programme in line with acceptable standards. It is recommended among others that educational planners and policy makers should liaise with NCNE to incorporate programmes directed at reducing poverty into nomadic education programmes. They should also broaden collaboration and partnership to expand the resource base, promote systemic linkages and international cooperation in the effective implementation of nomadic education.
