ROLE OF ESTATE SURVEYOR AND VALUER IN THE BANKING INDUSTRY (A STUDY OF FIRST CITY MONUMENT BANK OWERRI, IMO STATE)

ABSTRACT

This work examined the role of the Estate Surveyor and Valuer in the banking sector using First City Monument Bank Owerri as study area. The writer adopted both the primary and secondary sources of data in the course of carrying out the research. The researcher found out amongst others that professional Estate Surveyors and Valuers are not employed on full time basis in the Bank but rather their services are sought when the need arises to handle most of the complicated issues bothering on valuation and property management with a view to enhance and maximize productivity of the sector among others. The invaluable services Estate management professions should be publicized so that general public, the chief executive of companies could be fully aware of the extent of the service rendered by Estate Surveyor and Valuers. Most companies more especially banking industry who are currently employing non-professional to manage their landed property should be advise that Estate Surveyor are the only analifi4ed people to do such job if they want to get their money among others.
