Our experience and knowledge of the human nature are always incomplete and fragmentary. This inability to achieve a comprehensive grasp of what we are is often revealed as we attempt to clarify the concepts that emerge from our lopsided understanding of human nature. The concept of self is a case point. In this essay, we focused on the idea of self in philosophic literature; we affirm that self is seemingly lost in the multiplicity of its aspects. Kierkegaard Existentialism shows that existence is subjective and that the state of subjectivity is the state of knowledge. This essay shall be critical, analytical and evaluative to demonstrate the multiplicity of ways in which self have been construed.
