THE STUDY OF THE PROBLEMS OF INADEQUATE EQUIPMENT AND IT’S EFFECTS ON THE TRAINING OF SECRETARIAL MANPOWER IN TERTIARY INSTITUTIONS IN ANAMBRA STATE (A CASE STUDY OF FEDERAL POLY OKO)

Abstract
This research was carried out to investigate the problems

of inadequate equipment and its effects on the training of secretarial

manpower in tertiary Institutions in Anambra State. In carrying out the

research, 58 students of the classes of office Technology and Management

department were used which was the whole population in line with this

four (4) research question were constructed and research question were

constructed and structured questionnaires administered. This question

were analyzed with tables, percentage and the level of acceptance was

50% Low performance of students secretaries was associated to inadequate

equipment because the only equipment presently in use in the department

are manual typewriter and electric typewriter and would be better if

provided with the needed equipment as they desire more practical

training to theoretical oriented training. Lack of funds noted are

needed for the procurement of equipment. In the course of this, it was

concluded that the need for adequate equipment should see to the

adequate equipment is widely recognized in the office Technology and

Management Department as the necessary equipment should see to need for

adequate equipment for effective instruction are grossly inadequate. In

recommendation, it was recommended that the school management should see

to adequate provision of equipment in the departments as this will

enhance proficiency. Accommodation should be provided as this will add

to the life span of the existing machines.
