Abstract:

Most African societies have been curbed with persistent conflicts heightened by ethnic antagonisms since precolonial. The Northern part of Kenya is infamous for the frequent conflicts and counter conflicts. The objective of study explores role of women in peace building in the inter-ethnic conflicts between the Turkana and Pokot communities along the borderline. The study was carried out along the borderline Lokitonyala- Loreng'ekippi and Kainuk-Turkwel areas. This study was guided by the protracted social conflict (PSC) theory by Edward Mar as well as the Liberal feminist theory. The data was collected using questionnaires, focus group discussions and oral interviews.
