EFFECT OF EXAMINATION MALPRACTICE ON THE ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT OF SENIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL IN ENUGU SOUTH LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA OF ENUGU STATE

Abstract:

The study examined the effect of examination malpractice on the academic achievement of senior secondary school in Enugu South LGA. Three specific purposes and three research questions guided the study. A survey research design was used for the study. The population of the study consists of all the economics students in the government secondary schools in the study area which is twenty-four thousand three hundred and ten (24310) with a sample size of two hundred and forty (240). The instrument used for data collection was a structured questionnaire. The data collected was analyzed using mean and frequency table. The result showed that unseriousness among the students and teachers and overloaded syllabus are the root cause of examination malpractice in secondary schools. The researcher recommended that workshop and seminars should be conducted for both the parents and teachers for them to see the need to fight against malpractice.
