The increasing resistance of microorganisms to conventional antibiotics has heightened the need to explore alternative sources of antimicrobial agents. This study aimed to investigate the phytochemical constituents and antimicrobial properties of the root extract of [Plant Name]. Phytochemical analysis was performed using standard methods to detect secondary metabolites such as alkaloids, tannins, saponins, flavonoids, and glycosides. The antimicrobial activity of the root extract was assessed against selected bacterial and fungal strains, including Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Candida albicans, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa, using the disc diffusion method.
The phytochemical screening revealed the presence of bioactive compounds, which are known to possess medicinal properties. The antimicrobial assay showed significant inhibitory effects against both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, as well as antifungal activity. These findings suggest that the root extract of [Plant Name] holds potential as a source of natural antimicrobial agents, which could be further developed for therapeutic use, particularly in the fight against antimicrobial resistance.
