The pyridyl based Schiff base ligands from 2-aminopyridine and benzaldehyde and 2-aminopyridine and 2, 4-dihydroxylbenzaldehyde were synthesized by: 1. For Schiff base from 2-aminopyridine and benzaldehyde; Distillation of Benzaldeyde to ensure maximum purity from possible contaminant like water and ammonia, and refluxed with freshly prepared 2-aminopyridine. The refluxing was done with ethanoic acid catalyst at a time and without catalyst. The process was followed up with Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC) checks. The Pyridyl Schiff base was concentrated in an evaporator that removed ethanol.2. For Schiff Base from 2-aminopyridine and 2, 4-dihydroxylbenzaldehyde; Solution of the 2, 4-dihydroxylbenzaldehyde was refluxed with solution of 2-aminopyridine with glacial acetic acid catalyst to help avoid water recatalysis and hydration followed by Thin Layer Chromatography checks, then concentrated with evaporation for 48hours and finally subjected to trituration with methanol and diethylether to eliminate the oily-liquid and brown crystals caused by side reactions. The Separate Schiff Bases were finally purified from possible contaminants with column/flash chromatographic method then checked with Thin Layer Chromatography again. The complex was prepared by refluxing stoichiometric quantity of copper nitrate salt with the prepared and purified Schiff Bases with TLC checks. The complex has been analysed with FTIR and melting point analysis.
