AVAILABILITY OF TEACHERS AND LABORATORY FACILITIES FOR EFFECTIVE TEACHING AND LEARNING OF COMPUTER SCIENCE IN JUNIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL IN ENUGU NORTH (A CASE STUDY OF ENUGU NORTH LOCAL GOVERN

ABSTRACT

This research was carried out to assess the availability of teacher and laboratory facilities in computer science in junior secondary school in Enugu North. Teachers from each of the selected schools in Enugu north local government area were randomly exampled. Three research questions were formulated to find out the availability of teaching and learning of computer science. After through review of relevant literature, structured questionnaire was used to collect valid and relevant data which were analyzed and interpreted using Xs and S.D.
The result showed that:-
i.Some laboratory facilities are available for teaching and learning computer science in some secondary schools in Enugu North
ii.Most of these facilities are not in good working condition
iii.Time allocated for the students to make use of the available equipment for personal practical are not enough 
iv.Strategies that should be allocated for the supply of laboratory facilities and availability of teachers in Enugu North Secondary Schools include, Government patronage, community participation through P.T.A, also more teachers should be employed and the teachers and students should improved materials for teaching computer science in junior secondary schools. A number of recommendations were given at the end for proper study and teaching of computer science in junior secondary schools.
