PERFORMANCE OF NIGERIAN NEWSPAPERS IN SELECTED POLITICAL CRISIS SITUATIONS

The press in a democratic setting sets the agenda for the society through news reports, incisive features, editorials and commentaries. This study, therefore, evaluated the performance of the Nigerian newspapers in their coverage of selected political crisis situations in terms of m...

STUDIES ON CORROSION INHIBITION POTENTIAL OF INDIGO CARMINE ON MILD STEEL IN ACIDIC MEDIUM

ABSTRACT Studies on corrosion inhibition potential of Indigo Carmine extract on mild steel in acidic medium was carried out using weight loss and electrochemical techniques. It was observed that the Indigo Carmine extract retarded the dissolution of mild steel in the acidic medium. The corrosion rate decrease with increase in concentration. The CR decrease from 37.59mm/yr to 27.50mm/yr in presence of the inhibitor. The CR also increase with increase in temperature up to 60oC. The increase in ...

DIGITAL WATER MARKING FOR VIDEO PIRACY

ABSTRACT Digital watermarking is the process by which identifying data is woven into media content such as images, movies, music or programming, giving those objects a unique, digital identity that can be used for a variety of valuable applications. Imperceptible to the human senses yet easily recognized by special software detectors, a digital watermark remains constant even through recording, manipulation and editing, compression and decompression, encryption, decryption and broadcast witho...

BIOLOGICAL AND ECONOMICAL FEASIBILITY STUDIES OF USING SEAWEEDS ULVA LACTUCA (CHLOROPHYTA) IN RECIRCULATION SYSTEMS IN ABALONE FARMING

ABSTRACT Significant effort has been put into the development of cost-effective abalone (Haliotis midae; Gastropoda) cultivation systems in South Africa, but the limited availability of suitable seaweed for abalone food is an obstacle to future development. The aim of this study was to investigate whether a land-based recirculating seaweed-abalone integrated aquaculture system using Ulva lactuca was feasible as well as to test the differences between a commercial gravel bed recirculation syst...

Changing Land-Use Patterns And Farming Strategies In The Degraded Environment Of The Irangi Hills, Central Tanzania

Abstract The approaches adopted by local farmers to put the degraded landscape of the Irangi Hills in central Tanzania to productive agricultural use are analysed. The area has been extensively affected by severe soil erosion, thereby reducing its potential for agriculture. While soil erosion in the upper and middle reaches of the slopes has resulted in extensive gullies, sedimentation in the lower reaches has created extensive sandfans and buried some of the fertile, clayey soils. The chang...
