IMAGE PROCESSING AND ITS APPLICATIONS

ABSTRACT In electrical engineering and computer science, image processing is any form of signal processing for which the input is an image, such as a photograph or video frame; the output of image processing may be either an image or, a set of characteristics or parameters related to the image. Most image-processing techniques involve treating the image as a two-dimensional signal and applying standard signal-processing techniques to it. Image processing usually refers to digital image proces...

Customer Care And Performance In Banque Populaire Du Rwanda S.A Main Branch

The research on "customer care and performance in Banque Populairee Du" was conducted in Rwanda S.A Main Branch. The research was guided by the objectives of the study which included; findings out the effects of poor customer care in enhancing the performance, establishing the ways of improving customer care in Banque performance, and finding out the relationship between good customer care and performance. On finding out the effects of poor customer care in enhancing Banque performance, the r...

Machining of nickel-base, Inconel 718, alloy with ceramic tools under finishing conditions with various coolant supply pressures

Abstract Machining of Inconel 718 with whisker reinforced ceramic tool gave better performance in terms of tool life under high-pressure coolant supplies up to 15MPa compared to conventional coolant supplies. The use of 15MPa coolant supply pressure tend to suppress notching during machining thus improving tool life, while the use of higher coolant supply pressure of 20.3MPa did not show improvement in tool life due probably to accelerated notch wear caused by water jet impingement erosion. C...

Assessment Of The Challenges Of Water Supply And Sanitation In Uncontrolled Residential Developments Of Huruma Estate, Nairobi County

ABSTRACT. The struggle for water and its resources have progressively increased over periods of time. This is majorly attributed to the fact that the resource, as vital as it is, faces excessive extraction resulting from rapid population growth as well as urbanisation and industrialization trends. In Kenya, several families face many problems related to water and sanitation services. In the study area the project resolved in finding out the various challenges of water supply and sanitation i...

Seroprevalence And Molecular Detection Of Chikungunya Virus Among Febrile Outpatients Seeking Health Care In Mzuzu City, Malawi

ABSTRACT Chikungunya is a viral disease caused by Chikungunya virus (CHIKV) that is transmitted to humans by infected Aedes aegypti and Ae. albopictus mosquitoes. The objective of this study was to determine the seroprevalence of Chikungunya infection among febrile patients seeking healthcare in Mzuzu City, Malawi. Blood samples were collected during 2019 from outpatients attending Mzuzu Central Hospital who presented with fever but who were malaria and sepsis negative. Sera from outpatients...

Socio-Cultural Environment Influencing Open Performance Review And Appraisal System (Opras) In Public Institutions In Tanzania: A Case Study Of Water Supply And Sanitation Authority In Dodoma

ABSTRACT The study was conducted at Dodoma Urban Water Supply and Sanitation Authority which is located in Dodoma Region. The study attempts to examine the influence of sociocultural environment on OPRAS, a case study of DUWASA. A sample of 70 plus 9 key informants were included in the study which implicated both management staff and the floor workers from each department. Questionnaire, interviews and documentation were used to collect data. Questionnaires were given to ordinary employees w...

Design And Construction Of 20 Watts Wireless Public Address System

ABSTRACT It has become inevitable that there would be communication and due to the inherent limitation of the human voice, the public address system came to being. A public address or “P.A SYSTEM” is an electronic amplification system with a mixer ,amplifier and loudspeakers, used to reinforce a given sound , e.g a person making a speech, pre-recorded music ,or message and distributing the sound throughout a venue . The voice signal is passed through a microphone , which converts the sou...

PATTERNS OF TRANSMISSION, PREVALENCE AND INTENSITY OF SOIL TRANSMITTED HELMINTHIASIS IN NSUKKA ZONE, ENUGU STATE, NIGERIA

ABSTRACTThe study assessed the prevalence, intensity and environmental risk factors affecting thetransmission of soil transmitted helminthiasis in eleven randomly selected communities inNsukka and Uzouwani Local Government Areas of Enugu State, Nigeria. It also determinedthe effect of peoples’ knowledge of mode of transmission of the diseases and access tofacilities for water supply and sanitation in each of the communities. This is with a view togaining insight into the patterns of transmi...

CONTRIBUTIONS, CHALLENGES AND SOLUTIONS OF SMALL AND MEDIUM ENTERPRISES (SMEs) IN NIGERIAN ECONOMY (International Journal Publication)

Abstract Small  and medium enterprises (SMEs) are notably the engines that drive economic development.  The businesses account for almost 90% of businesses in both leading and developing economies through job creations, employment, tax provision and contribution to Gross Domestic Product (GDP). However, in Nigeria, besides their critical and positive role, many SMEs face numerous challenges ranging from power shortage,  lack of capital,  poor management  skills and competencies...

Socio-Economic And Cultural Factors Influencing Gender Roles In Joint Forest Management Around Mount Meru Catchment Forest Reserve, Tanzania

ABSTRACT The contribution of women and men in Joint Forest Management (JFM) is highly needed for effective forest management and its consequent boost of economic levels in villages surrounding Mt. Meru Catchment FR, Arumeru district. This study assessed gender roles and determined the extent of participation of men and women in JFM activities around Mt. Meru Catchtchment FR. The study also intended to identify socio-economic and cultural factors influencing gender roles in JFM in Ilkiding’...

Characterization of algae oil (oilgae) and its potential as biofuel in Kenya

Abstract A survey of microalgae biodiversity in three Kenyan Rift valley lakes identified high oil yielding species abundantly distributed naturally. The species were cultured in BBM and BG-11 media to obtain pure clones and lipids (oil) extracted by the Bligh and Dyer method. The peak lipid content ranged from 1.5 – 10.5% of algal biomass with Chlorella species showing the highest yields (10.5%), followed by Euglena acus (5.88), Nitzschia (3.68%), Ankistrodesmus falcatus (1.58%) and Scene...

Vendor Management Inventory And Organization Performance Case Study Nakumati Supermarket Kampala

ABSTRACT Vendor managed inventory is the system where vendor takes overall responsibilities of business on behalf of organization by; making daily deliveries of goods, managerial work, checking of stock and others. . In June 2009, the first Nakumatt store in Uganda opened on Yusuf Lule Road on Kololo Hill, in central Kampala, the capital city. In November 2010, Nakumatt expanded its footprint in Kampala by acquiring Payless Supermarket, a Ugandan supermarket chain with two stores in the Kampa...

Vibrational Circular Dichorism and Non Linear optics of Azobenzene Derivatives; A Theoretical Study

The present work reports a theoretical study on vibrational spectra and nonlinear optical properties of azobenzene derivatives. The theoretical geometrical parameters in the ground state have been investigated by density functional method using B3LYP functional and 6-311G++ (d, p) basis set. The analysis of calculated IR and VCD indicates that the binaphthyl and alkoxy side chain of azobenzenes derivatives contribute differently to spectral line shape. The out-of-phase bending and twisting of...
