Computer and its Architecture

Computer Architecture Computer technology has made incredible progress in the throughly 60 years since the first general-purpose electronic computer was created. Today, less than $500 will purchase a personal computer that has more performance, more main memory, and more disk storage than a computer bought in 1985 for 1 million dollars. This rapid improvement has come both from advances in the technology used to build computers and from innovation in computer design. Although technological i...

Geophysical Investigation of the Causes of Borehole Failure in the Crystaline Basement Complex: A Case Study of Kaura Area of Kaduna State, Nigeria

Abstract Vertical Electrical Soundings (VES) using Schlumberger array were carried out at different points along five (5) profiles. This research investigates the causes of massive  borehole failure at Kaura  area of Kaduna state using the resistivity tomography techniques. Terrameter SAS300 is the instruments used to acquire the data. A total of 19  boreholes  are  functioning,  while  31  boreholes  are  non-functioning  within  the  area.  The  investigation  has portrayed...

Classifications of Computers

According to the U.S. Census "Forty-four million households, or 42 percent, had at least one member who used the Internet at home in 2000" (Home Computers 2). Today, no doubt, even more family members in the United States use computers. Most people are aware of the desktop computers which can be found in the home and in the workplace. What are the different types of computers and what are their purposes? Computers can be classified into three different categories of home computers, portable c...

Bilateral congenital cystic adenomatiod malformation of the lungs : a case report

ABSTRACT A six weeks old infant presented with scalp ulcer and fever, and on examination was found to have resonant percussion notes bilaterhlly. The initial chest radiograph revealed multiple lucencies which were initially thought to be due to diaphragmatic hernia, but the dilemma was resolved bf; Computerised tomography which revealed the lucencies to be multiple cysts characteristics of Congenital Cystic Aaenomatiod Malformation (CCAM) type II.

ROLE OF COMPUTER IN THE BANKING SECTOR

ABSTRACT This study explains the role of computer in the banking sector. It further describes the need and importance for banks make use of Micro Computers for effective utilization and storage of data. The use of computer in the banking sector can be an efficient tool in speeding up the process and cutting the price of creating and undertaking figure works. There are numerous benefits of Computer in the Banking Sector such as: Bring about simplicity in term of worrying condition. Reduce stre...

THE IMPACT OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY ON THE MODERN BUSINESS WORLD

DEFINITION OF TERMS MODERN:  Of the present and recent times TECHNOLOGY: A systematic study or technique for making and doing things. INFORMATION: Is a data that has been processed and can be used for decision making. TCP/IP:TCP/IP stands for transmission control protocol/internet protocol, the language governing communications between all computers on the internet. TCP/IP is a set of instructions that dictates how packets of information are sent across multiple networks. EQUIPMENT: Tools or...

Inhibition of growth of S. epidermidis by hydrothermally synthesized ZnO nanoplates

The antibacterial effect of zinc oxide (ZnO#1) as prepared and annealed (ZnO#2) at 400 o C, Cu doped ZnO (CuZnO), and Ag doped ZnO (AgZnO) nanoplates on Staphylococcus epidermidis was investigated for the inhibition and inactivation of cell growth. The results shows that pure ZnO and doped ZnO samples exhibited antibacterial activity against S. epidermidis as compared to tryptic soy broth (TSB). Also it is observed that S. epidermidis was extremely sensitive to treatment with ZnO nanoplates a...

Investigation Of Usable Thermoelectric Voltage Generated By Computer Waste Heat

ABSTRACT Computers use electric current to process information. Heat is generated in computer components whenever current flows through it, the heat generation causes unavoidable heat build up and a subsequent temperature rise at and around the components. High operating temperature is dangerous to the safety and reliability of components since the failure rate of computer components increases almost exponentially with the increase in operating temperatures. Similarly, the heat generation lea...

TUTORS’ AND STUDENTS’ UTILIZATION OF ICT IN THE COLLEGES OF EDUCATION IN THE EASTERN REGION, GHANA

ABSTRACT The study examines tutors’ and students’ utilization of ICT in the colleges of education in the Eastern Region of Ghana. In all, 257 respondents, made up of 176 students and 81 tutors, representing a retrieval rate of 95.2%, responded to the questionnaires with an alpha reliability of (0.759 for tutors and 0.712 for students) and this formed the sample of study. The study which was descriptive in nature employed the use of questionnaires for the collection of data. Frequencies we...

Investigating The Effects of Leachate on Groundwater Repositories in Major Dumpsites in Enugu State, Nigeria, Using Integrated Approach

ABSTRACT    The integrated study involving electrical resistivity method and physicochemical analysis of water samples was carried out to investigate the effect of dumpsite leachate on groundwater repositories around the dumpsites in Ikot Ekpene, Uyo and Eket Local Government Areas of Akwa Ibom State. A total of thirty-three (33) vertical electrical sounding (VES) employing Schlumberger electrode configuration and five profiles of electrical resistivity tomography (ERT) were carried out aro...

INSTALLATION OF COMPUTER SYSTEMS AND RESUSCITATION OF COMPUTER LABORATORY

ABSTRACT The entire universe is now living in the computer age; most of our day to day jobs are being influenced by the use of computers. It is used increasingly in each and every field of our life. In the areas of science and technology improvements cannot be without the use of computers. Hence it has become necessary to have basic knowledge about computers. This project focuses on installation of computer systems and resuscitation of computer laboratory in the Department of Electrical/Elect...

A case of a 22-month-old boy with necrotizing pneumonia presenting with leukaemoid reaction misdiagnosed as leukaemia: a case report and review of the literature

Abstract Background Necrotizing pneumonia and hyperleukocytosis, to the extent of that seen in leukaemia, is a rarely reported presentation. The commonest trigger of such a presentation is an inflammatory process caused by an overwhelming infection which leads to bone marrow irritation. However, the misdiagnosis of this clinical entity as leukaemia should be avoided at all costs so as to avoid the anxiety associated with a diagnosis of cancer, both to the patients and their families. Case pre...

Land Evaluation And Suitability Assessment For Crops Produced In Butuguri Area, Butiama District In Mara Region, Tanzania

ABSTRACT Land evaluation was conducted in Butuguri area, Butiama District, Mara Region to assess land’s suitability for cassava, maize and sorghum production. After reviewing literature and discussing with farmers and extension officers, five criteria for growing crops were selected which are: soil physical properties, soil chemical fertility, rainfall, temperature and topography. The Analytical Hierarchical Process was used to assign relative importance weights to the chosen criteria. Spat...
