ABSTRACT The media is often referred to as the mirror of society, reflecting events and issues that occur in society. This study examined the nature of coverage the press in Ghana gave to cybercrime issues through a content analysis of sampled editions of the Daily Graphic and the Daily Guide in 2011. The study set out to examine the view that the structure of ownership of a medium determines the content it turns out. Specifically, it tested the view that a state-owned newspaper such as the D...
ABSTRACT A tool for the simulation of stream processing tasks on two dimensional processor arrays is developed in this work. The tool, a Many-core Energy and Latency Estimator (MELE) has provided abstractions from the many design constraints facing application developers on Many-core platforms. A set of models have been designed to improve the programmer’s ability to iteratively map data flow applications to the target machine. Included in the model set are; an application model, which pr...
ABSTRACT Coning tendencies in oil rim reservoirs pose serious hindrance to optimizing oil production in the thin oil beds as unwanted fluids tend to replace the oil in the production stream, which invariably limits the ultimate oil recovery. In this study, a semi-analytical method of estimating critical production rate (qoc) and optimum horizontal well placement (hopt) was developed for reservoirs with thin oil zones sandwiched between gas cap and bottom water. Also, proxy models was genera...
ABSTRACT Two layered rattan cement composite were made from Calamus Deeratus and Laccosperma Secundiflorum particles using cement:
ABSTRACT Leaf Area Index (LAI) is a concept that cuts across agricultural sciences and agricultural engineering with an encapsulating feature in environmental engineering. It is one of the most difficult 10 quantify properly owing to large spatial and temporal variability.
ABSTRACT This paper deals with facility maintenance scheduling model which incorporates opportunity and inflationary costs.
ABSTRACT This paper aims at applying a fuzzy logic control model to profitability in a case study of the plastic recycling industry in Nigeria. The studies of profitability components of the plastic recycling industry as used to develop a model framework and the application of fuzzy logic control model to the framework are given in this paper. A brief introduction to profitability concepts as well as useful suggestions and conclusions are all integral part of this paper which is based on the...
ABSTRACT This study presents a generalized analytical formulation of the Multi-Well Interference test problem using the concepts of the source and sinks functions as a tool for solving the basic interference equations.
ABSTRACT In the process of generating a cam profile, input parameters such as lift, maximum allowable pressure angle, eccentricity and roller-radius are subjected to variations.
ABSTRACT Working properties of some clay deposits in Ekiti State, Nigeria were investigated with a view to determine their suitability for use as refractory bricks. The samples were collected from three different commercial pottery clay centers in Ekiti State; they are Ara, Awo and Isan. Two varieties were collected from both Ara and Isan, which are named Ara 1, Ara 2, and Isan 1, Isan 2 respectively while only one type was collected from Awo. The clay samples were crushed, pulverized, sieve...
ABSTRACT This study investigates various insulation thicknesses requirements for double-walled spherical pressure vessels for the storage of cryogenic liquids. The inner tank is suspended from the outer tank by straps or cables and the annular space between the tanks is filled with insulation. The outer tank is not subjected to the freezing temperatures and is thus assumed to be a standard carbon steel sphere. In the Finite Element Analysis model of the system, one dimensional analysis was e...
ABSTRACT A non-pre-emptive goal programming (NGP) model for weld metal chemical composition optimization from welding-flux ingredients is proposed.
ABSTRACT This paper investigate some important works done on numerical analysis and modeling of laminar flow in pipes. This review is focused on some methods of approach and the analytical tools used in analyzing of the important parameters to be considered in laminar flow; such as frictional losses, heat transfer etc. in laminar flow in pipes of different shapes, and the importance of laminar flow in its areas of applications. Prominent researchers have approached this from different perspe...
ABSTRACT The effects of fiscal terms on true government take under joint petroleum ventures and production sharing contracts were investigated. A generalized cash flow model was developed and used to evaluate government revenues under different fiscal terms and contractual agreements. Analyses revealed that government take is reduced in joint ventures with divestment of equity if other fiscal terms remain unchanged.
Abstract Upper bound solutions to a 4-High reversing aluminium cold-rolling sheet mill was obtained in this work using both analytical and graphical methods. The upper bound method was applied to the rolling of an Al 1200 sheet from 7mm to 0.6mm in six passes. It was observed that both methods were very effective in predicting upper bound load value with the graphical method giving a higher value using input velocity values from industry. However, it was observed that the graphical method be...
