Catalytic conversion of polyethylene to liquid fuel and solid wax using the (CaOH2)

ABSTRACT The objective of the work is the catalytic conversion of waste plastics into fuel oil and solid wax using Ca(OH)2 and the design of pyrolysis reactor. Plastic wastes such as, polypropylene, low density polyethylene, high density polyethylene, polystyrene are the most frequently used in everyday activities and disposed of to the environment after service. There are a number of methods by which plastic wastes can be managed such as incineration, recycling, land filling, thermal and cat...

Pultruded FRP-Concrete hybrid beams: characterization of shear connection behavior through static push-out tests

This paper discusses the recent investigation into the composite action of pultruded Fibre Reinforced Polymer (FRP) and concrete hybrid systems, under static push-out tests. The study sought to experimentally determine the characteristic load-slip behaviour of the FRP-concrete composites under varying shear stud arrangements and failures modes associated with the variations and the push-out load capacity. For the initial tests, three composite test specimens were fabricated using FRP wide fla...

Some Ecological Disasters And How They Affect The Human Environment In Nigeria

A “disaster” can be defined as  ‘a calamitous event, especially one occurring suddenly and causing great loss of life, damage or hardship, caused by negligence, bad judgment, or the like, or by natural forces, as a hurricane or flood….the emphasis is on grief or sorrow caused…or the destruction or irreparable loss.  they often come with such inexplicable emotional force that triggers in man that innate human desperation or determination for survival against all adversities, n...

Inhibition of corrosion on AISI 4137 steel in H2SO4 using Cascabela thevetia and Jatropha curcas leaves

Abstract: Inhibition of corrosion on AISI 4137 steel in H2SO4 using Cascabela thevetia and Jatropha curcas leaves  as inhibitor was studied using gravimetric and gasometric analysis. It was found that the leaves extract of both  plants act as a good corrosion inhibitor for AISI 4137 steel in all concentrations of the extract ranging from 0.3 -  1.5 g/l and the inhibitive efficiency increases with increasing concentration of inhibitor. Cascabela thevetia has  better surface coverage than J...

Car security control using RfId

ABSTRACT  Security Car Using RFID System. This project is designed to enhance vehicle safety systems available. Thus, this project consists of some combination of equipment and components to create a car security system that meets the security features and use more advanced. RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) is the most reliable way to electronically identify, data capture, control, track, and inventory items using RF communication. Thus the project was produced by using RFID (Radio Freq...

Development of speech accent adaptation algorithm

ABSTRACT The serious setback in modern day Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) technology is posed by intonation differences which results in acoustic and durational variability; a problem that hindered the full exploration of this area of research and the development of the speech technology product globally. This work developed an algorithm that is capable of adapting to the accent of the focused Nigerian major tribes (Hausa, Yoruba, Ibo, and Fulani) thereby improving the development of loca...

Electronic Source Code Plagiarism Detection

A paper on Electronic Source Code Plagiarism Checker/Detection This paper covers a few algorithms used in an attempt to detect plagiarism among students’ computer program source codes electronically, that is, using a computer software program. One algorithm proved to meet most of the requirements with acceptable results and was implemented using VB .Net programming language. Keywords: plagiarism detection, source code, kheme, source code plagiarism detection, plagiarism detector, source...

Coefficient of friction

In developing processing machines for plant materials, the frictional property of the seed on structural surfaces of Mild steel (MS), Plywood (PW), Concrete (CC) and Glass (GL) is a parameter which needs to be measured. In this study, the static coefficient of friction of two Nigerian beniseed accessions (Yandev-55 and E8) were determined at moisture content levels of 5.3, 10.6, 16.1 and 22.4 per cent (wet basis). These were used as inputs into designing a beniseed oil expeller. A - 2 x 4 fac...

DEVELOPMENT OF A FUZZY LOGIC TECHNIQUE FOR BIOGAS GENERATION OF ELECTRICAL ENERGY

Abstract Production of biogas energy is one of the important technical solutions that contribute to the transformation of energy system from being fossil fuel dependent to renewable energy originated. Thus, comprehensive understanding of biogas energy is necessary in order to develop an accurate and robust model that will predict and control the biogas production. This research paper develops a fuzzy logic controller model for biogas generation of electrical energy. A fuzzy logic algorithm w...

ANALYSIS OF SANITATION AND WATERBORNE DISEASE OCCURRENCE IN ONDO STATE

ABSTRACT Waterborne  diseases  are  linked  to  significant  disease  burden  worldwide.  Waterborne  diarrhoea disease,  for  example,  is  responsible  for  tw o  million  deaths  each  year,  with  the  majority  occurring in  children  under  five.  Proper  household  water  and  sanitation  can,  however,  increase  resilience  to waterborne  disease  risks.  In  view  of  the  foregoing,  this  work  has  established  a  relationship  f...

CAUSES OF CRACKS IN STRUCTURES

Building cracks are most common type of problem in any type of building. So, it is important to understand the cause and the measures to be taken for prevention. Though cracks in concrete cannot be prevented entirely but they can be controlled by using adequate material and technique of construction and considering design criteria. Due to some faulty steps during construction or some unavoidable reasons different type of cracks starts to appear on various structural and non-structural parts o...
