Microbial Load, Cholesterol Levels And Sensory Quality Of Hard-Boiled Commercial Eggs

ABSTRACT Microbial flora and load, Cholesterol levels and sensory quality of attributes of hard-boiled commercial eggs being hawked along Lagos-Horm Road were monitored in this study. The bacteria isolated from the eggs include; Achromobacter sp. and Staphylococcous aureus. While the eggs sampled from Ibadan, Ogbomoso and Ilorin had lower microbial load (20 - 33 X 104 CFU/g). On the average a 56g egg was found to contain 235mg Cholesterol. The results of sensory quality evaluation showed that...

Effects Of Shelling Ratios On The Sorption And Flexural Properties Of Cement Branded Paticleboard Prpduced From Mixed Nigerian

The mean Moduli of Rupture and Elastiuty (NOR and MOE) measured for each of the 12 treatment combinations used in this experlment are summarised in Table 1, MOR values ranged from 4.23 to 11.92 N/ mm2 while MOE values ranged from 1950 to 4140 N/mmz. These range values, conform favourably to the range values of 3.28 to 10.46 N/mm2 (MOR) and 2200 ta 4010 N/ mm2 (MOE) reported by Badejo et al(2011). Furthermore, the mean MOR range values of 6.62 to 11.92 N/mmz obtalned for some of the boards com...

Microsatellite markers in Aquaculture: Application in Fish population genetics

Abstract: Microsatellites or Simple Sequence Repeats (SSRs) represent an abundant source of genetic markers which are highly abundant and dispersed evenly throughout eukaryotic genomes. They have become the markers of choice for a wide range of applications in population genetic, conservation and evolutionary biology. Microsatellites represent ideal molecular markers because they have multiple alleles which are highly polymorphic among individuals. Polymorphism is achieved by having variable ...
