CONSTRUCTION OF A 12VDC TO 230VAC POWER INVERTERS

ABSTRACTThis project is titled the construction of a DC to AC inverter system. It is constructing to meet up with the power demand in the offices and in homes in the absence of power supply from the power holding company of Nigeria, PHCN. In order words the device / item serves as a substitute for PHCN which almost monopolises the power supply to people. It is constructing in such a way that it will take up 12v DC from battery and inverts it to an output of 230v, 50Hz AC. It makes no noise dur...

MODIFICATION OF THE UNN SWINE ENTERPRISE PLANNING AND MANAGEMENT SOFTWARE

Swine enterprise is one of the best options to choose when investing in livestock production, but has been suffering a big neglect due to lack of awareness and ignorance on the part of investors in most developing countries including Nigeria. Everything about swine enterprise depends on how they are managed as they do not demand much financially for their labour, feeding, housing and equipment selection and for other basic needs as compared to other livestock enterprise. Therefore, due ...

Design and Construction of Wireless Power Transfer System Charging Multiple Devices

Abstract:Wireless  power  transfer  system  charging multiple devices, through inductive coupling method which is  classified  under  near  field  transfer  region.  In  this project,  we  intend  to  achieve  wireless  power  transfer charging  multiple  devices  such  as  mobile  phone, toothbrush and other low end power devices without the use  of  conventi...

Extraction and Phytochemical Analysis of Oil from Neem and Morning Oleifera Seeds and Leaves

ABSTRACTPhytochemicals are chemical compounds produced by plants, generally to help them thrive or thwart competitors, predators, or pathogens. These chemicals are produced by plants through primary or secondary metabolism (Breslin A,2017) . These work was done to determining the presence of phytochemicals such as Tannins, Saponin, Alkaloids, Anthraquinone, Phlobatannins, Flavonoids and  Cardiac Glycosides (e.g Steroidal Ring or Terpenoids and cardenolide) from oil extracted from mo...

Effect of Surface Area on the Extraction of Silica from Rice Husk and Wheat Husk

Silicon dioxide , also known as silica (from the latin silex), is an oxide of silicon with the chemical formula SiO2, most commonly found in nature as quartz and invarious   living   organisms.   In   many   parts   of   the   world,   silica   is   the   major constituent of sand. Silica is one of the most complex and most abundant families of materials existing as a compou...

ASSESSMENT OF VOLUMETRIC SHRINKAGE AND HYDRAULIC CONDUCTIVITY OF LATERITE STABILIZED WITH BAMBOO LEAF ASH AS LINER MATERIAL

The project work assessed the volumetric shrinkage and hydraulic conductivity of lateritic soil-bamboo leaf ash admixture as liner materials for use in waste containment systems or structures such that the result shows effectiveness for use.

THE DEVELOPMENT OF A LARGE-SCALE MULTIPURPOSE HOT MEAL PROCESSING EQUIPMENT

The development of a large scale multipurpose hot meal processing equipment was designed andsimulated for market oriented production as reported in this paper. This project involves thedesign,   design   layout and   performance   of   the  Hot  Meal   Processing   Equipment.   It  has   one compartment; the Agitator compartment. The Agitator has three curves like paddles arranged symmetri...

Development of Laboratory Hot Compression Mounting Press Machine

Abstract. This research focuses on the design, fabrication and performance evaluation of a laboratory hot mounting press machine for metallography using locally sourced materials and indigenous technology. To achieve this research objective, working drawings were produced which were used to produce the parts of the machine. Mild steel plates were used for the housing and the movable platen while stainless steel and mild steel rods were used for the production of the mold and the sturd res...

COMPARATIVE STUDY OF THE DIFFERENT METHODS USED IN RE-REFINING USED LUBRICATING OIL

Engine oils are made from crude oil and its derivatives by mixing of certain other chemicals (additives) for improving their certain properties. Lubricating oil is used to lubricate moving parts of engine, reducing friction, protecting against wear, removing contaminants from the engine, act as a cleaning agent, and act as an anti corrosion and cooling agent.Accordingly, this research effort focuses on comparative study of re-refined engine oils by acid treatment, acid/clay treatment, so...

Research Paper on Hand Sanitizer

AbstractThe 15th of October has been decreed a day to focus on germs specifically. It’s the germs on our hand that are in the firing line .The world health organization estimates that 3.5 million children die from diarrhea and lower respiratory tract infections each year. That’s why global hand washing day was decreed. Sanitation of hand has a great effect on the wellbeing of life in general. By maintaining ones sanitation different kind of diseases which are caused by contact can ...

Conversion of Waste Plastics to Fuel Oil

AbstractWaste plastic disposal and excessive use of fossil fuels have caused environmentconcerns in the world. Both plastics and petroleum derived fuels are hydrocarbons thatcontain the elements of carbon and hydrogen. The difference between them is that plasticmolecules have longer carbon chains than those in LPG, petrol, and diesel fuels. Therefore, itis possible to convert waste plastic into fuels. The main objectives of this study were to understand and optimize the processes of plasticpyr...

The study will be limited only to those who generate waste and dispose waste, either to public or private waste collection service and authorized collector identified by the people, customer/ client and part of the Board and waste management.So...

AIR POLLUTION TOLERANCE INDEX OF SOME TREE SPECIES AROUND ELECTRICITY GENERATING HOUSES IN AHMADU BELLO UNIVERSITY MAIN CAMPUS, ZARIA, NIGERIA

The  study  examined  the  Air  Pollution  Tolerance  Index  (APTI)  of  seven  different  tree  species  growing around  electricity  generating  houses  within  the  Ahmadu  Bello  University  (ABU)  Main  campus, Samaru.  Four  parameters,  leaf  relative  water  content  (RWC),  ascorbic  acid  content  (AA),  total chlorophyll  (TCH)  and  pH  of  leaf  extract  were  used  to  compute  the  APTI  of  the  tree  species.  Results indi...

A Comprehensive Research on Preparation and Characterization of Corn Curbs Adsorbent

In preparation and characterization of adsorbent obtained from corn curbs, potassium hydroxide was used as an activating agent at ratio of 1:1, 7:8 and 3:4 with the corn curbs and their pH values were found to be 8.5, 8.03 and 8.0 respectively, ash content were found to be 41.56, 46.78 and 48.31wt%. The BET surface area values were 17.762461, 25.455146 and 201.54631m2/g respectively and the best activated carbon formulation arrived was 3:4 AC.INTRODUCTION  An  adsorbent  is  a  porous ...
