Nitrate-Nitrite, Vitamin C And In-Vitro Methemoglobin Formation From Some Vegetables

ABSTRACT The content of nitrate, nitrite and Vitamin C in eleven samples of fresh vegetables were determined. The levels of nitrate were beyond here on recommended in six of the vegetables, namely: Celosia sp. Lactuca, sativa , Amaranthus hybridus, Brassica oleracea variety acephala, Talinum sp, Spinacia oleracea. Minute quantifies of nitrite were detected in Celosia sp and Daucus carota. With accompanying high concentration of Vitamin C (a reducing agent) present in Celosia sp. this vegetabl...

Availability Of Information Resources For Research Output: Perception Of Academic Staff Members In Nigerian Federal Universities

Abstract The volume of information resources potentially available in the globe is massive; hence it becomes necessary to examine available information resources for academics research activity in the academia. This study, therefore, examined the perception of academics on availability of information resources for research productivity in federal universities in Nigeria. Descriptive survey research design was adopted. The Multistage sampling technique was used to select 1,057 academic staff ...

Design Of Soft Viterbi Algorithm Decoder Enhanced With Non-Transmittable Codewords For Storage Media

ABSTRACT Viterbi Algorithm Decoder Enhanced with Non-transmittable Codewords is one of the best decoding algorithm which effectively improves forward error correction performance. HoweverViterbi decoder enhanced with NTCs is not yet designed to work in storage media devices. Currently Reed Solomon (RS) Algorithm is almost the dominant algorithm used in correcting error in storage media. Conversely, recent studies show that there still exist low reliability of data in storage media while the ...

Parents’ Practices And Barriers In Reducing Aflatoxins Contamination In Complementary Foods For Children In Central Regions Of Tanzania

Abstract Contamination of complementary foods by aflatoxin is a serious public health threat that requires attention to ensure that proper actions are taken to limit its health effects. A cross-sectional study was conducted to assess parents’ practices and barriers associated with reducing aflatoxins contamination in complementary foods among parents with children aged 6-23 months in central regions of Tanzania. Semi-structured questionnaire (364) respondents and focus group discussion (FG...

Ecological Factors and the Prevalence of Trypanosome Infections and Its Economic Implications for Livestock Industry in Simanjiro, Tanzania:

ABSTRACT Aims: Trypanosomosis is among one of the tropical neglected diseases which have impacted on human, livestock and wildlife. Different factors have been discussed by various researchers but ecological factors being considered in nutshell. This paper aimed at reviewing details on how the ecological factors influence the prevalence of trypanosome. Study Design: Literature review where various literatures have been reviewed and the information synthesized. This paper has placed focus on: ...

The Use Of ICT Between Male And Female Teachers In Secondary Schools In Tanzania, A Case Of Dodoma Municipality

Abstract This paper presents the results of the study of the use of ICT between male and female teachers of secondary schools in Tanzania, where Dodoma municipality was used as a case study. The main aim was to establish the differences between male and female teachers in awareness and using ICT and attending ICT short training. The data were collected using questionnaires in which 231teachers from 16 secondary schools were randomly sampled. Using Chi-square tests as a measure of association...

New Exact Models For Anisotropic Matter With Electric Field

Abstract. We generate two new exact models for the Einstein–Maxwell field equations. In our models, we consider the stellar object that is anisotropic and charged with linear equation of state consistent with quark stars. We have a new choice of measure of anisotropy that is physically reasonable. It is interesting that in our models we regain previous isotropic results as special cases. Isotropic exact solutions regained include models by Komathiraj and Maharaj; Mak and Harko; and Misner ...

Estimation Of Stress–Strength Reliability From Exponentiated Inverse Rayleigh Distribution

This paper considers the estimation of stress–strength reliability when two independent exponential inverse Rayleigh distributions with different shape parameters and common scale parameter. The maximum likelihood estimator (MLE) of the reliability, its asymptotic distribution and asymptotic confidence intervals are constructed. Comparisons of the performance of the estimators are carried out using Monte Carlo simulations, the mean squared error (MSE), bias, average length and coverage prob...

Conservation Education, Alternative Livelihood And Habitat Restoration: The Best Strategies For Conservation Of Magombera Forest Reserve

The Magombera forest is a home of endemic and endangered biological species such as Udzungwa red colobus monkey (Procolobus gordonorum) and the Magombera chameleon (Kinyongia magomberae). However, the forest is facing high threat of disappearing through resources extraction pressure from adjacent local communities. The project aimed at improving conservation of Magombera forest by involving the adjacent communities through provision of conservation education, restoration initiatives and bee k...

Enviromental audit of the tunukanbo forests of the niger delta Nigeria

The environmental audit of the Tunu/Kanbo area of Niger Delta, Nigeria was carried out to assess the impact of logging and timber exploitation in the area. The audit showed a high loss of endangered, threatened and economic forest species in the area; e.g Terminalia superba. The unlawful logging and “forest abuse” common in the area is detrimental to conservation of biodiversity attempts and ideals. It is recommended that regeneration efforts be put in place and intensified so as to esche...

Marshall–Olkin Power Lomax Distribution For Modeling Of Wind Speed Data

Accurate collection of wind speed records is significant for numerous wind power applications. The present investigation aims to highlight the use of the Marshall–Olkin Power Lomax (MOPLx) distribution for wind speed data. We examine the actual wind speed records gathered from three stations Bahawalpur, Gwadar, and Haripur. The dataset is demonstrated by using MOPLx distribution and compare its modeling performance with renowned probability distributions, for example, Weibull– Lomax, powe...

The q-Analogues of Some Inequalities for the Digamma Function.

Abstract In this paper, we present the q-analogues of some inequalities concerning the digamma function.

Statistical Analysis Of The Influence Of Teachers’ Mood On The Academic Performance Of Students

ABSTRACT The study attempts to determine whether the mood of teachers have any direct bearing on the academic performance of students in class. The study area was Morso D/A J.H.S. A sample size of forty students from form two was used for the study. The affect theory by Tomkins and the behavioral theory by Bandura was adopted as framework for this study. The random sampling technique was employed to select the samples into two groups of students each comprising of twenty, the groups were tau...

Some gamma function inequalities occurring in probability theory

Abstract By utilizing some basic analytical techniques, the authors establish some new Gamma function inequalities occurring in the study of Probability Theory.
