Assessment of some micronutrient in sesamum indicum

ABSTRACT Sesamun indicum is used for both domestic and commercial purpose in Northern Nigeria, this research is aimed at assessing some micronutrients in sesamum indicum seed in Nguru town, using atomic absorption spectroscopy, spectrophotometric and flame photometric techniques in order to determine the elemental concentrations of  some elements in sesame seeds collected from Nguru town, Nguru local government of Yobe state, Nigeria. The results showed the presence of sodium (Na), potassium...

ALFRED NON-OIL EXPORTS ON ECONOMIC GROWTH

ABSTRACT The research focuses on the impact of non-oil exports on Nigerian economy. It employs the documentary method in retrieving secondary data for the study. The data is retrieved from the CBN statistical bulletin for the year 2016. The method of data analysis is the ordinary least square (OLS) method of multiple regressions using the Microfit software. At the end of the analysis, it is discovered that non-oil exports has a significant impact on the economic growth of Nigeria. I recommen...

CORRELATIONS BETWEEN ELECTRICAL PERFORMANCES OF POTATO BATTERIES TREATED UNDER THREE DIFFERENT CONDITIONS.

ABSTRACT Using basic galvanic cell principles, the ability of tissues to generate electrical current through electrolysis was characterized. Studying Zn/Cu electrolysis in animal organs revealed a fundamental and measurable tissue-specific property – the galvanic apparent internal impedance (GAII), that is most likely related to the salt bridge function of tissues delineated by electrodes. We now report on new fundamental studies on GAII in vegetative matter and on a simple way for signific...

Extrudate characteristics produced from high density screw-type extruder machine

Etrudate characteristics of briquettes produced and effects of extrusion factors using an existing screw extruder have been investigated. The feedstock material used in the test is sawdust collected from sawmills around Ibadan metropolis. Particle distribution analysis of materials collected showed that the size varies between 6-8 mm with 10-20% powdery component (< 4 mesh) which is known to give better products. Samples of briquettes produced were used for physical characterization. Physical...

GEOELECTRICAL INVESTIGATION OF GROUNDWATER POTENTIAL OF ADMINISTRATIVE BLOCK AT PERMANENT SITE, FEDERAL UNIVERSITY DUTSIN-MA, KATSINA STATE, NIGERIA

Abstract A  geophysical  survey  for  groundwater  resources  was  carried  out  in  the  administrative  block  of Federal  University  Dutsin-Ma,  permanent  site.  This  was  successfully  done  by  employing  the electrical  resistivity  method  to  investigate  the  water  table  variations,  the  depth  to  basement, thickness of weathered basement, thickness of aquifer and area suitable for boreholes establishment within  the  areas  covered  wit...

Geophysical Investigation of the Causes of Borehole Failure in the Crystaline Basement Complex: A Case Study of Kaura Area of Kaduna State, Nigeria

Abstract Vertical Electrical Soundings (VES) using Schlumberger array were carried out at different points along five (5) profiles. This research investigates the causes of massive  borehole failure at Kaura  area of Kaduna state using the resistivity tomography techniques. Terrameter SAS300 is the instruments used to acquire the data. A total of 19  boreholes  are  functioning,  while  31  boreholes  are  non-functioning  within  the  area.  The  investigation  has portrayed...

Protein

Protein is an essential nutritional supplement of food that contain may elements of Amino acid  CHAPTER ONE1.1 INTRODUCTION Milk is one of the most nutritious foods. It is rich in high quality protein providing all tenessential amino acids. It contributes to total daily energy intake, as well as essential fatty acids, immunoglobulins, and  other   micronutrients.   Cow’s   milk  is the   predominant   type   in  severalcountries,   although   goat,   buffalo,   sheep...

DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION OF AN ENHANCED CHILD DIAGNOSTIC EXPERT SYSTEM

Detecting diseases in a child at early stage can enable one to overcome some avoidable diseases that can lead to death of the child and treat them appropriately. This system is poised at a greater extent to reduce infant mortality rate. The Enhanced Child Diagnostic Expert System (DExS) can help the nursing mothers, parents, nannies, guidance and crèche teachers even the medical personnel a great deal in identifying specific diseases and describing methods of treatment to be administered. Th...
