The nutritional and chemical constituents of different extracts of Neem leaf (Azdirachta indica) and their effect on the haematology and histopathology of Wistar Albino Rats

ABSTRACT                                   The nutritional and chemical constituents of different extracts of Neem leaf (Azdirachta indica) and their effect on the haematology and histopathology of Wistar Albino Rats were investigated. The samples analyzed includes processed and unprocessed leaves extract of Neem plant using cold water, hot water, 40% ethanol, 30%  methanol,...

Studies on heavy metals contents of Osun River at the pre-urban settlement and across Osogbo City, Nigeria

Heavy metals were analysed in Osun River (Nigeria) between 2017 and 2018. Concentrations of the heavy metals were in the increasing order: Fe > Zn > Cu > Mn > Pb > (Ni, Cr) > (Cd, Co). Iron made up 76% of the total heavy metals measured. Activities at Swanlux Farm (a major oil palm farm) seemed to impart on Osun River as the highest Fe concentration (2.55 mg/L) was measured near the farm. In the urban settlement, average zinc concentration was almost double (0.37 mg/L) of that found in the pr...

CHEMICAL CLASSIFICATION OF GRANITIC ROCKS AROUND GWADA AREA

Abstract The geochemical classification of granitic rocks in the Gwada area of Niger State, North Central Nigeria was carried out. The methodology adopted for the research consists of fieldwork and geochemical analysis of rock samples using XRF at Nigerian Geological Survey Agency, Kaduna. Field evidence suggests that, the Gwada area mapped is largely underlain by highly weathered Schist and Granites. The granites occur as an intrusion into the highly weathered Schist in the study area. The g...

THE IMPORTANCE OF USING RADIOTRACER IN DIAGNOSING CANCER

ABSTRACT Nuclear Medicine is a medical specialty that allows modern diagnostics and treatments cancer using radio pharmaceuticals original radio-tracers (drugs linked to a radioactive isotope).  Radio-pharmaceuticals are considered a special group of drugs and thus their preparation and use are regulated by a set of policies that have been adopted by individual member of countries. The radio-pharmaceuticals used in diagnostic examinations are administered in very small doses. So...

Socioeconomic determinants of infants mortality rate in Zaria LGA of Kaduna Nigeria

Socioeconomic determinants of infants mortality rate in Zaria LGA of Kaduna ABSTRACT Infant mortality remains high in Zaria Local Government and beyond despite the various policies that have been implemented by the authorities to reduce it. Although studies have examined various factors that explain infant mortality, effects of infant mortality and causes of infant mortality has been rarely explored. The study finds out socio-demographic strength of the respondents, causes of infant mortalit...

Design and Construction of Permanent Magnet Generator

ABSTRACT  A drastic change in the perception of electric energy . But at the same time there is misreading of FREE ENERGY. Energy becomes free only at a point after which we don’t have to pay for power generation after hiring the unit. By using the magnetic force of magnets continuous motion (Energy) is made. This magnet also produces a magnetic field, so both the magnetic fields repel each other (like poles repel), which reasons the fins to move. The free Energy Generator was mounted in...

Trigonometry

Trigonometry (from Greek trigōnon, "triangle" and metron, "measure"[1]) is a branch of mathematics that studies relationships involving lengths and angles of triangles. The field emerged in the Hellenistic world during the 3rd century BC from applications of geometry to astronomical studies.[2] The 3rd-century astronomers first noted that the lengths of the sides of a right-angle triangle and the angles between those sides have fixed relationships: that is, if at least th...

COMPARISON OF THREE STATISTICAL METHODS FOR ESTIMATING WEIBULL PARAMETERS FOR WIND ENERGY ANALYSIS

There is a crucial need in the mainland regions of Nigeria to enhance the development of wind technology and engineering, which is essential for the designing of Wind Energy Conversion Systems (WECS). The Weibull Probability Density Function (PDF) with two parameters is widely accepted and commonly utilized for modelling, characterizing and predicting wind resource and wind power, as well as assessing optimum performance of WECS. Therefore, it is paramount to precisely estimate the scale and ...

Systematic study of z transform and its analysis on Discrete Time Systems

ABSTRACT In this project work, we have established a systematic study of z transform and its analysis on Discrete Time (DT) systems. The researcher also deal with Linear Time Invariant (LTI) system and Difference Equation as examples of DT systems. The right and left shift was use as a method of solution of the z transform to linear difference equation. CHAPTER 1                                                   ...

COMPUTERIZED LEARNING AND TEACHING MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

In this project i have explored the use of Information Communication and Technology to help students have access to learning resources such as course content online, downloadable materials. With the learning management system we designed and implement. Students can download materials to be read online or offline. It involves redefining the importance of e-learning, design issues and strategies to promote interactivity and active learning, learning support, policy and management issues. E-lear...

AN ONLINE BOOK-BANK MONITORING SYSTEM

This project was aimed at developing an online book-bank monitoring system in Makerere University. The responsibility of monitoring book-banks in Makerere University is vested in the main library and is executed by the Bank-Bank section. It was intended to address the current problems encountered in using a manual system to monitor the activities of the book-banks. The study covered three book-banks namely; Faculty of Computing and IT, Faculty of Law and Department of Adult Education and Comm...

Fullwork-A System for Health Document Classification Using Machine Learning

Due to the massive increase in medical documents every day (including books, journals, blogs, articles, doctors' instructions and prescriptions, emails from patients, etc.), it is becoming very challenging to handle and to categorize them manually. One of the most challenging projects in information systems is extracting information from unstructured texts, including medical document classification. The discovery of knowledge from medical datasets is important in order to make effective medic...

Estimation of Naturl Radioactivity Levels in Some Food Spices Commonly Used in Nigeria and Its Radiological Risks

A spice is a vegetable substance of indigenous or exotic origin, which has a hot pigment taste that could be used to enhance taste of food or add to food some necessary stimulant ingredients. Knowledge of radioactivity levels in human diet is of particular concern for the estimation of possible radiological hazards to human health. In this study, the radioactivity concentrations of 40K, 238U and 232Th in some selected natural food spices commonly used in Nigeria were determined using gamma sp...

Baseline Studies of Terrestrial Outdoor Gamma Dose Rates of Ten Selected Markets in Port Harcourt Metropolis

In-situ measurement of background ionizing radiation of 10 markets in Port Harcourt metropolis of Rivers State, Nigeria was done using radiation meters and global positioning system. Two portable handheld nuclear radiation monitors (radalert100 and digilert200) to measure exposure dose rate at the various points and a GPS (Germin GPS map 76S for exact positions. The average exposurerates ranged from 0.011 mRh-1 (Mile 1 market) to 0.017 mRh-1 (Rukpokwu international market). The exposure dose r...
