Application of Very Low Frequency- Electromagnetic (VLF-EM) Method to Map Fractures/Conductive Zones in Auchi South western Nigeria.

Geophysical survey involving very low frequency electromagnetic technique was applied to investigate possible geologic features like fractured / conductive zones in Auchi and its environs in Edo state, Southwestern Nigeria. The study area is located within latitudes 7o05’ N.to 7o10’N. and longitudes 6o11’E to 6o22’E The geologic Formations outcroping in the area are mainly Ajali and Nsukka. Three profiles were taken along the roads from Auchi to Igara, Auchi to Fugar and Auchi to Ulok...

WIRELESS ELECTRICITY

ABSTRACT Electric energy needs to be transported to the distribution lines through cords. One of the major issue in power transmission is the losses occurs during transmission and distribution process of electrical power due to the energy dissipation in the conductor and equipment used for transmission. As the demand increase day by day, the power generation and power loss are also increased. In addition, the cost of making electricity is harmful to the environment. Reducing transmission lo...

In vitro Assessment of Selected Antibiotics, Crude Extract of Dalbergia latifolia Leaf and Their Combination on MDR Salmonella enterica Strain.

Aims: To investigate the susceptibility pattern Salmonella enterica strains to selected antibiotics and extract of Dalbergia latifolia as well as their combinatory effect on (multi-drug resistant) MDR salmonella.  Place and Duration of Study: Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Ibadan, Nigeria from October 2012-May 2013. Methodology: In this study, a total of 11 clinical isolates of Salmonella enterica strains were screened in vitro against five antibiotics (ampicillin, amoxycillin, chloramph...

Multidrug Resistant Salmonella enterica Strains in South Western Nigeria: Prevalence and Susceptibility to Ceftriaxone

Aims: To investigate the prevalence and susceptibility pattern Salmonella enterica strains to ceftriaxone in southwestern Nigeria. Place and Duration of Study: Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Ibadan, Nigeria from November 2012-May 2013. Methodology: Isolates of Salmonella enterica were characterized by established standard cultural and biochemical tests and was screened in-vitro for their sensitivity to different antibiotics (ampicillin, amoxicillin, chloramphenicol, cotrimoxazole and ceft...

SORBITOL NEGATIVE ESCHERICHIA COLIIN WATER LEAF (Talinum triangulare)

A total number of 60 samples of water leaf were collected from different areas in Enugu Metropolis, these samples were inoculated and examined to detect the presence of sorbitol negative Escherichia coli 0157:H7. About 35(17.5%) samples out of the 50 samples inoculated were found to be sorbitol negative E-coli. From the result E-coli 0157:H7 is the predominant serotype accounting for 90% of all VTEC isolates. A Multi Channel Cloud Based Student Information Management System

The system developed in this paper uses a cloud based multi-channel technology to implement and design a robust and dynamic cross platform software as a services (SaaS) application for students’ information management system (SIMS). The system runs on a network of infrastructure as a service (IaaS) for the purpose of overcoming the lapses associated with the existing systems developed for managing students’ information. The system was built with the capability to resolve issues on manu...

Detection and Analysis of Digital Steganography

This academic work discusses how to detect and analyse steganography in digital files. It also shows an experiment on how Stegonography was conducted and detected  using different softwares and methods.

CORRELATION OF RADON IN PHYSICO CHEMICAL OF WATER (CASE STUDY: IBADAN, OYO STATE.)

ABSRACT Radon is a natural radioactive inert gas that is odorless, colorless and tasteless. It cannot be detected without special equipment and it occurs as a product of uranium decay. Radon is an unstable radionuclide that disintegrates through short lived decay products before eventually reaching the end product of stable lead. The short lived decay products of radon are responsible for most of the hazard by inhalation and ingestion. Radon and its decay products emit highly ionizing alpha-r...

CULTIVATION OF PLEUROTUS PULMONARIUS ON SAWDUST

ABSTRACT Pleurotus species are popularly known as oyster mushroom which are regarded as one of the edible mushroom of commercial important throughout the whole world. Utilization of this depends on the ability to secrete cellulolytic and hemilocellulolytic enzymes which can make use of wide spectrum of Agro industrial wastes for the growth and frutification. In this study potato dextrose agar was the only growth medium used to prepared the mycelia of P. pulmonarius. Then the culture was tran...

ISOLATION AND IDENTIFICATION OF MICROORGANISMS RESPONSIBLE FOR SPOILAGE OF DAIRY PRODUCT (MILK, YOGHURT AND LOCALY PREPARED CHEESE)

ABSTRACT Milk, Yoghurt and Cheese are highly valuable food which are readily digested and have high concentration of nutrients which have proved to be a heaven of microbes, studies were conducted on the isolation and identification of microbes [Fungi and Bacteria] on peak canned milk, yoghurt, locally prepared cheese and cheese water. It was revealed that yoghurt was devoid of microbes while milk, locally prepared cheese and cheese water harboured microbes. Locally prepared cheeses, cheese ...

DEVELOPMENT OF A WEB APPLICATION FOR BIRTH AND DEATH CERTIFICATE REQUEST

ABSTRACT  The manual method of obtaining birth or death certificate is complex and impractical for increase in birth rate and death rate. The cost of obtaining a birth or death certificate, risk and stress of communicating with the National Population Commission (NPC) officials, loss of certificate are some of the possible problems of the manual process of obtaining birth or death certificate. Before a birth or death certificate can be issued by NPC, the birth or death must have been registe...

Microbiology of Meat Spoilage

This paper is titled 'Microbiology of Meat Spoilage'. It clearly explains those Spoilage microorganisms associated with the Spoilage of meat and meat products and also the preservative method to be used in preserving meat. On the basis of its high moisture content and presence of adequate nutrient, meat is regarded   as   the   most   perishable   product   (Magnus,   1986)   and   thereby   highly susceptible   to   spoilage   by   microbial proliferation.  Apart...

INCIDENCE STUDY OF ROTAVIRUS ANTIGEN IN DIARRHEIC STOOL OF CHILDREN ATTENDING SABANA SPECIALIST HOSPITAL IN GOMBE, NIGERIA

ABSTRACT  Rotavirus is a common cause of diarrhea in children. This study was carried out to determine the prevalence of rotavirus antigen in children below five years presenting with diarrhea in Gombe State. Thirty (30) stool samples were analysed using ELISA KIT. Out of the total number of samples analyzed, a prevalence of 6.67% was recorded all of which are between the age group 7-12 months. A more comprehensive survey is recommended to depict true states of rotavirus as an etiology o...
